Ultra portable notebook [modified]

I am considering buying my first notebook (preferably ultra-portable) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as I have never owned a notebook/laptop before..... Preferably 2Gb ram, dual core and if possible a solid state drive instead of a hard drive. I was intrigued until I saw the price tag. My first ultra portable is still probably going to be asus's eee pc. a 10-20x pricegap more than makes up for the lower feature set.:cool:
