It would be nice to see in general a few people help me out on this. I mean really, these two are just flaming! Read my posts, read my signature, then compare to other more "popular" posters and writers, then be honest with yourself and let me know. What is the issue? Thanks in advance!

I'm not flaming :( - just making a point. your original post in this thread contains a link which directly follows your text, it implies that the link is related to the text, the fact that it is in your signature is neither here nor there since you use the same font for your signature who's to tell where it starts and ends. This and the fact that the link is to an advertisement however harmless or trivial makes either unsolicited marketing or spam in my book. If you had made it clear that the link was part of your signature then there would have been no problem, I would just have overlooked it - but of course then you wouldn't get so many hits on your site! Using your own example:- http://www.codeproject.com/lounge.asp?msg=2182543#xx2182543xx Obviously a link to a personal site I agree but separated from the text by a line and in a different font color to distinguish it. No Problem!! PS. I did not vote 1 for your posts - I don't object to what you are doing just the way you do it - as you say yourself pretty much everyone else is doing it - and there's nothing like a good arguement first thing in the morning to start the day off, right? :)

There is a big difference between people posting a link to their blog, or to a company they work for. Things like this:
Free new laptop giveaway ever 30 days. No strings, no spam... For legitimacy concerns, some of the people behind next2friends reside at Genetibase (^)
smells like spam or a scam, if your signiture was just
next2friends (^)
I wouldn't have a problem.

You are still fighting me on this... Just concede already. Now it's about formatting. Make up your mind, or concede. The big difference you are talking about happens to apply to me. All you say above is what I did, did correctly.

I agree solely with your argument mention. Other than that I think you should concede with me. Thanks

Wow, I still take offense... You are implying I didn't create a clear separation between my text and the signature... Unbelievable... You are wrong, no intention on my part. And I just post my signature in the signature portion of the post mechanism. I do not control how close it is placed to the post text. Thanks... P.S. What's up with jabs???

I already agreed with you!!! :sigh: There is nothing wrong with your link providing it doesn't 'appear' to be part of the text which it does. :)

Thanks... Good to be resolved. Want to win a free laptop??? (JOKE)

Too bad you didn't just say that in the beginning.

Fact: There was no clear separation - on first viewing the link appears to be a part of the text. Intentional or not. That is my point.

I didn't say you did it intentionally, how do I know whether you did or not? Go back to your research - how many of your 59% of signature links are in a different color/font or separated by a line? I think you will find all of them. I don't know what you are offended by its a perfectly valid point to make about your post not about you. :) PS I don't know what you mean by jabs??

Ok, fair enough... I didn't calculate that variable. I will run that tonight and get the number. In fact in my example, no clear seperation is present. (Mark's) THanks

Actually there is a line and the links are definitely a ... ah, what the hell, can't be bothered to argue anymore ... its obviously very important to you - go ahead have the last word, I totally agree with anything you have to say OK? :|

I don't need the last word. Accuracy is important to me (regarding comments) as it should be to all. No need for patronization either. My browser doesn't seem to render those lines.

You are not very consistent... 1. It's a scam shouldn't be in signature 2. Would be fine if formatted differently 3. It's a scam. lol

I've been very consistent in saying it sounds like a scam.
