There's a growing anti-firefox sentiment out there and many sites are actively blocking it according to the cp newsletter so I would go with something a little more sane and less wild eyed crazy.

Why would you download a browser when (if you have Windoze) you get a perfectly good one for free? I'm convinced that the 15 odd % of users now sucked into FireFox are all techies since not one normal person I know could be bothered to download a browser when they already have one: most don't even know what a 'browser' is: they all think Google is the internet anyway. The PC is hard enough for most normies as it is without expecting users to think for themselves. Duh!

How do you unrate(unvote) a rating? I have a very klutzy mouse.

I need it to not pick up blogs and not pick up lies. I need it to pick up reliable information. So it's probably a creature of the sea, as I was advised by the trusty tool. Above. Shog forever. Americans forever. Uh oh. Is that a flame I just felt on my sweatshirt sleeve? Clarity. Please. Soon.

admit your klutzy mouse and hope a few people will offset it with 5's because you were brave enough to admit the mistake.

I ran into horrendous stability problems about a week ago. It had been gradually getting worse and worse. Bad, non-killable hangs for example. many have said that extensions are the chief culprit. Rather unfortunate as it's extensions that are the "killer application." Anyway, I discovered that two major problems are the download manager (I deleted all the downloads from it an now keep it to a manageable size) and Firebug (I've disabled it). Since then it's been much more stable. Still uses a lot of memory - up to 200k but does seem to periodically give it back, as it's claimed to do. But I'd never observed that before.

Firefox is related to Netscape and now Google, so, umm, well, ummm, what should I download instead? If that's the church and that's the state I'm effed.

i keep firebug disabled. i run Greasemonkey (because i have a few scripts to strip comments from certain blog commenters) and nothing else. just loading David Byrne's Journal kills this latest version of FF for me, every single time. and i get random crashes two or three times a day. this never happened with the last version.

Oh, wow. I used Lynx as my primary browser for... hmm, at least three years in the early '90s. It was amazing how slow Netscape seemed by comparison!

15% is a slight overestimate according to these stats[^]. Yes, only one data point. W3Schools[^] reports nearly 35%, but these stats are only from their own site which is of course used by web developers.

Ain't that the truth! I imagine all the Video On Demand "services" that you've signed up for make that a bit difficult to do :)

when i started, i used to use an abacus, a voltmeter and an Etch-a-Sketch. but that only worked over dialup. i can't keep up with the signals on broadband.

You don't get the CodeProject newsletter? http://whyfirefoxisblocked.com/[^] http://www.google.com/search?q=link%3A+whyfirefoxisblocked.com&rls=com.microsoft:*&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1[^] It's perfectly understandable really. If I were Chris I'd be blocking it here as well considering how many firefox fanatics we seem to have who are no doubt circumventing the advertising that is the lifeblood of this site.
