Anyone have experience with any off the shelf shopping cart software? Most of what I've seen is inexpensive so cost shouldn't be a big issue. .NET 2.0 support, full source code, CC processing and email are the key features we're looking for.

I've used their store for quite awhile. It works really well, but the graphics that come with it are horrible. I wound up making my own replacement buttons. I wound up putting them on Snowcovered where they've sold like hotcakes, so I guess I wasn't the only one that thought the graphics sucked. Cheers, Drew.

To be honest most of us just write our own. It's pretty easy to code. Actually shopping carts are great applications to start/learn .NET. :D The only thing you will that you cannot code is the API to verify/process the credit cards. These API's are all free and most are easy to use since most of them all have .NET wrappers now a days. Just find out who your client/customer is banking with and how they want to verify the credit cards, some use Verisign for example. Then just hit Verisign's website (for example), and download the API there. AspDotNetStorefront.com is a full storefront. I use them for all of my e-commerce sites. See http://moonmippyonline.com and http://gayefieldsjewelry.com. They're probably the best .Net storefront out there and they surely blow away any of the stupid PHP storefronts. Don't spend time reinventing the wheel by writing your own storefront, it wouldn't be as good anyway. when you could buy it for far less than your development time. Plus they're one of the few carts that are Visa compliant. That aspect is very important. They also work with just about any gateway and they supply the source code. You can sell just about any kind of product and/or service you can think of with it. They've spent years making it generic. Their support is awesome and they have a great community. If you submit a question, you're sure to get a reply by a member or the administrator with a solid answer.

BVCommerce www.bvcommerce.com We also previously used Storefront from LaGarde www.storefront.net -- though we're moving our clients away from them.

Question; do you have experience of using the downloadable products feature which allows the sale of e-good i.e. software applications, data files etc. I have a client that wishes to sell Excel data files which are downloadable through links from an e-mail received once the user has paid through the store front interface. I need to make a decision with regards to using an e-commerce package or writing the functionality myself. What's your take on this?? Regards SAS25

There's a radio button for 'Downloadable' and a text field for the download location. It seems very straigtforward to set up, everything else sure is. I entered a test product myself for a downloadable file and it was easy. I can't verify that it automaticlally sends an email for the download, but with each purchase the customer gets an automatic email reciept. I'm pretty sure that for a downloadable product, the email will contain the download link and they login with their account. I would ask sales sales@aspdonetstorefront.com to be sure.
