What a time to start (coincide with RWC)! (Ok Technically it began on Thursday.) So do you care about NFL? Are you a football fan? Which team are you supporting? I am with Indianapolis (AFC) and Atlanta (NFC now that Michael Vick has gone we may have some chance to go to playoffs).

I've always been a big Minnesota Vikings fan. We're gonna suck bad this year, though, unless by some miracle our inexperienced QB becomes the next Vick.

I love watching all the games on Sundays, but I'm not really a huge NFL fan all the same. College football is far and away more entertaining to watch (and attend) than NFL games. The NFL guys are just too good - every game quickly devolves into a slow, angry chess match. The college games move more quickly, and are more likely to contain exciting moments, IMHO.

Of course! I went to school at Ga Tech (CS 2001), and going to games (well, tailgating before them) are some of my favorite college memories. Lots of my old college friends and fraternity brothers are still in Atlanta, and we all usually meet up for home games. This season looks like it'll be an entertaining one - Tashard Choice has developed into a franchise-quality RB, Bennet looks more than competent out there, and James Johnson is looking good as well (he's no Calvin Johnson, but he's good nonetheless). I was at the game this weekend (vs. Samford), but left after the first quarter because it was already 28 - 0, and I had plans to see the Allman Brothers / Dave Mathews concert later in the evening. I'm looking forward to the Georgia/Georgia Tech game this year - we might have a shot at winning this time. Even if not, the school (at least when I was there) didn't offer a single degree that didn't require at least two solid years of maths, a full year of physics and chemistry, and two no-joke computing/programming classes. It's quite a feat to be able to field a nationally ranked football team every year or two, not to mentioned a consistently top-10 baseball team.

Me too :) I grew up going to Pats games back when they were usually bad, so I still find it weird that they're now one of the NFL powerhouses, but it makes it that much sweeter. Damn, they looked good yesterday...

I missed the game - on purpose. They seem to do badly when I watch. :) I'll wait until mid season when they're (fingers crossed) looking like they'll be able to repeat a playoff spot. /ravi

That sounds really cool. I've hacked around in Excel with things like schedule strength and other stats to try to give her an edge at work. Her being a big Browns fan, and they end up winning a game they aren't supposed to, ends up being a pool tie breaker sometimes :->

Hey, I am posting the pro predictions on my wiki here... http://www.wiki-site.com/index.php/Joeswammi:JSNFL[^] I didn't have enough time (again) to finish developing it but it does a rudimentary job on quickly using current statistics and simulating the entire week.
