McLaren F1 has been stripped of all its constructors' championship points for the 2007 season and fined $100,000,000 USD

Crikey. McLaren got nailed[^] for their little bit of thievery. Seems as though the drivers, Alonso and Hamilton, will keep their points though. Guess other teams will think twice about doing something similar in the future.

Well, they have done it many times in the past, in special Ferrari. Anyway, this is an intrinsic part of this pseudo-sport Cheers, Carlos

Unfortunately, it is just a bunch of nonsense. McLaren has been blatenly pushing Hamilton at the expense of Alonso all season. It is a freaking disgrace to all those fans of F1 and specially to those like myself that are Hamilton's fans. After this, and having nothing to lose, McLaren could even have Alonso sit out the next races and gift the championship to Hamilton without recourse to any of the sabotages to Alonso we've seen so far. If it wasn't because Hamilton and McLaren need Alonso to set up Hamilton's car, he would be out on the street.

Wow, I'm an avid f1 fan and who knew I'd learn the decision here first? They couldn't strip Hamilton of his points, he's their current golden boy, worth his weight in promotional gold. So how does any of that make sense? If Mclaren gained an unfair advantage then the drivers should really lose their points no? It seems more like they determined that Mclaren did not gain an unfair advantage and are penalizing them for besmirchment more than anything else.

I don't buy it. Alonso has clearly shown he's lost something this season, making silly mistakes, getting rattled. Perhaps now there is favoritism going on because it just makes sense to cement that championship in the late stages but I highly doubt early on in the season there were anything but equal opportunities for both drivers.

It's interesting to see what Jackie Stewart has to say here[^] and here[^] - if McLaren had been spying on someone other than Ferrari, or if it had been Ferrari spying on McLaren, would the punishment have been the same? Just think of some of the dodgy moves Schumacher used to pull (Monaco qualifying, anyone), without ever really getting punished.

Wow, you must be kidding! Hamilton was taking all the season advantage from Fernando's knowledge on how to tune a F1 car. And McLaren never, ever supported Fernando, but the other way round. Do you remember what happened in Hungary? Hamilton behaved like a bad-mannered boy, to say the least. He's not a bad driver, though not a special one. Next year, when Fernando will be out of McLaren (hopefully), you will see the real power of Hamilton & McLaren

Yeap, Alonso's season has been mediocre in general. Regarding equal oportunities early on, recall Monaco and how RD undermined Alonso's victory.

Read my comment again. You got it all wrong. My spanish is not good at all but that sentence says something like: El McLaren eqipo empuja obviomente en Hamilton y Alonso pagando mucho todo siempre. Boy, I'm cracking up, does it make any sense?

If the recent rumours are to be believed that Alonso was blackmailing Ron Dennis with the info he had regarding the Ferrari in order to get Hamilton booted off the team forcing Dennis to bring up the latest info that led to the fine then Alonso is all but toast in F1.

It is not a rumour. I read the interview. RD said that Alonso had threaten to disclose unless he was made "the number one driver of the team". Later on, Alonso was asked about it and he said it was pure fiction. Mosley commented that it is RD who has lied (to him and about Alonso). All in all, it seems idiotic for Alonso to demand that he is made "number one on the team". All he needs to ask for is that setup information is not leaked to Hamilton. So RD tale sounds more like he is setting Alonso up for the UK press in order to divert attention from himself (what a boss, eh?). In regards to Alonso, he has been complaining of the treatment he receives in McLaren. Well, you gotta give it to him. RD actions speak for themselves. As a Hamilton fan, I am loving this season although I am quite concerned that the evident favoritism he enjoys will end up destroying him. What's your take?

Mosely actually denied that statement about RD lying to him. I honestly don't see any favoritism, I see Alonso acting like a spoiled brat. I think Mclaren will drop Alonso at the earliest opportunity to do so. I don't think Hamilton has anything to worry about whatsoever.

I read the Mosely's interview. Either Mosely lied before or after. But you are right. RD never lies so even if he doesn't make any sense, whatever he says is true. And sure, screw Alonso. He is a nobody compared to Hamilton and, as you say, Alonso is a guy that has had everything made easy for him always unlike Hamilton that is a guy that has made himself against all odds. Go Hamilton!!

Ha! I'm not making this stuff up, it's public knowledge, read the news before you let your blind hatred of Hamilton and your love of Alonso cloud your judgement. ;) In any case I fully predict Alonso will *not* be driving for McLaren next season and may very well be driving for a "best of the rest" team if any. He screwed himself big time and few serious teams are going to want to deal with a guy who would so easily and willingly screw his entire team for an unfair advantage.

Blind hatred of who???? Speak for yourself and your feelings towards the driver of your preference (the "spolied brat" perhaps?). I am a Hamilton fan. If you are confused about that, it is no wonder you can't grasp what's "public knowledge". Hey, the German "Blid" has just demanded that Alonso be fired for being a cheater and a blackmailer. Now, there is love for your "spolied brat".
