It seems it's differents results on different machines. If I type this formula =850*77.1 in A1 I get 100000, I reckon it could be a locale problem.:~

No. It is 65535 for me. It is Excel 2003 here. However, as some user pointed out, if I use x, then the Office Assistant (Rocky) is barking indicating a wrong formula and proposing to correct it as * rather.

Letz have a consensus on that which is on par SQLServer strategy which allows a recursion till 32 and then throws this exception:
Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded (limit 32)
