This is where the OP replies with 'made you look !!!'

Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

enter this formula =850 x 77.1 into an Excel cell...it displays 100000...there are several other combinations that also results in an incorrect value... see here[^] Steve

100000 for me. I tried the examples in the blog and they all worked as stated - good to see Microsoft is 'rushing a fix' in 8 to 10 weeks.

It seems it's differents results on different machines. If I type this formula =850*77.1 in A1 I get 100000, I reckon it could be a locale problem.:~

and yet 850 * 77.100000001 = 65535, strange! interesting but totally useless information unless you happen to ever want to calculate 850*77.1...

No. It is 65535 for me. It is Excel 2003 here. However, as some user pointed out, if I use x, then the Office Assistant (Rocky) is barking indicating a wrong formula and proposing to correct it as * rather.

Letz have a consensus on that which is on par SQLServer strategy which allows a recursion till 32 and then throws this exception: Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded (limit 32)
