Swelling & Legos (Photos *ALL* SFW)

I thought these were cool photos from a "click if you are bored" perspective. I did a weird whammy on my ankle. Doesn't hurt to walk on, doesn't hurt at all but it really hurt when I kicked it into the ground playing soccer at a clinic I was putting on. http://www.code-frog.com/ankle.jpg[^] These are some photos of a Lego air plane Grant got for his birthday. I just think it's so cool what they can do with Legos now. Now this is a sweep wing air craft meant to resemble the F-14 Tomcat and it's a very good job. Finally my wife forced me to the doctors and the xray showed it was broken and next thing you know I was in a cast with crutches for a few weeks in the middle of winter far up north just off the Alaska Highway. Crutches in winter on ice is about as dangerous as anything I've done in my life. Luckily I found that they make crampons for crutches, little flip down thingies with spikes on the bottom which probably saved my neck that winter.

I've thought 100 times I'd broken a bone and the only one I've ever broken was a collar bone and then my parents wouldn't take me to the doctor (pigs!). So now that I'm thin again you can totally see one of my collar bones through my short goes up at a very steep angle. A doctor offered to fix it once and I said, "How would you fix it?" to that he said, "Simple, we just brake it again and set it properly." I thought real long and hard about that (.5 milliseconds) and said, "Sorry! It doesn't bother me at all and I turned and ran out of there in a hurry. My bones don't break real easy and I've done a lot of things that should have broken a lot of bones but I escape injury for some reason. That picture was at the doctors office. No break, just a sprain and not a bad one at that since I can walk on it with zero discomfort. I'll rest until Friday then I'm back on the elliptical trying to get down to 180 pounds. At 185 right now I'm loving life but I'm going to see if I can get to 175 and I'm not totally sure I can. I don't know that I have it to lose. I'm officially 80 pounds lighter than I was 3.5 years ago and that feels !DANG! good.

I'm seriously considering coughing up the dough to get one of the mindstorms. I fancy building a robot :-D If I can do it with cheaper parts, I'll go for it. Why don't we have DIY section here? I know several guys that would get a kick out of it. I'm one :->

I nearly won a MindStorm kit in a draw, but didn't qualify because I forgot to go to the event, and you had to be physically present to qualify. That sucks.

Do it yourself? I'd love to get into building small electronics from loose parts, but, alas, im too lazy to get off the xBox 360 and start the hobby. There is no one around my area that I could "nerd out" with. I think thats what's holding me back. I used to do that, first during school, and then when I was a technician. It's been years, but my interest has been waxing again. Your mention of a forum for such things has motivated me to find/found something along those lines. My primary interest now is building some audio stuff, life amplifier and speakers.

Chris loves his legos too. Almost a full star wars collection, none of the err.. collecters series (I mean come on... who wants to build a 4 foot representation of the millenium falcon for $500?). But he decided to strike a deal with us.... If he can save up enough money to pay his own way into Legoland, and spending money to buy his own stuff there, we supply the trnasportation there and back, room and board, etc. for the rest of the vacation there.... darn... more overtime. :) oh well. :)
