Is it just me or does there seem to be a growing number of people who are blatantly asking for people to vote for their posts, even to the point of explicitly saying "vote it a 5"? Does anyone else find this a bit pretentious?

        Scott.

Yeah, a lot of simple questions get the same answer 5+ times, I think some folks want to put a CP MVP on their resumes.

Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

True. Falsely spruced up content gets banged in open limelight of the latent frauds sooner than later. In India, we have a lot of small institutes which take money and give illegal certifications and these rackets keep getting unearthed by the cops often.

Does NIIT come into this category? Reading some of the posts from these guys...what they're being taught should be classed as illegal.

They do big pompous advertisements. But their franchised outlets outside Chennai Corporation city limits like the ones in Adambakkam (near Guindy and five minutes drive from International Airport) make us smell something fishy on thier deals.

They get an icon, that's all. I don't get one, as I already have a staff icon. It's awarded based on votes, in question forums only.

It's one of my pet hates - and by that I don't mean that I really dislike the goldfish. These people actively point others towards the MVP status explanation on the site for the reason they want the votes. If one were unscrupulous one could, of course, downvote them a few times until they got the message. But I wouldn't advocate that of course.

Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

That sounds like my weekend last weekend... had something due Monday morning... This weekend, spending some time with the kids and helping my brother with his pergola he's building, then Monday morning I'm jetting off to Sydney for a week...

Yeah, a lot of simple questions get the same answer 5+ times, I think some folks want to put a CP MVP on their resumes.

I do answer already answered questions, if I belive I add some value, different POV or experience. Should I put "I don't give a damn about CP MVP status" in my sig?
