Hardly. You weren't responding to me. You're just stupid. That's all.

Since you are obviously unable to do anything but call me "stupid", let me explain it to you more clearly you extremely intelligunt catholic. You made a post saying that since hippies are stupid, and the people who broke into your house are stupid, the people who broke into your house must be hippies. That is what I was making a satire of. Do you get it now?

Oh come on now...we all know you're infatuated with him. On another note - you mentioned something about your astronomy work being published in a NASA report or something. Got the reference for that? I'd be interested to see it.

Dude don't assume that everyone else shares your infatuation with Red. Here is the video, it is their Amateur astronomy public outreach type video for September. http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/videos/whatsup/whatsup20070911/

I thought it was a good one, and duly noted that Red didn't get it...

Or are you afraid you'll be such a safe and comfortable sleeper that your wife will have to wake you up by shooting off a couple of rounds? You're hilarious, oh of course you're not worried or upset, you are just going out to buy some guns, everybody does that when they're bored. I am sorry you got robbed, honestly, it is very stressful and can worry you for your safety. However, you deserve it, so I am conflicted.

I got robbed. :( Some dirty leftist hippies snuck into by back door and took about $7,000 in electronics and cash while I and (fortunately) my wife were out. How do I know they were "dirty leftist hippies", you ask? Because while they stopped to swipe a 5-year old XBox, they passed on fairly expensive watches, jewelry, financial statements and check books sitting in plain view. They also broke a high definition projector by ripping it from its mount instead of gently unscrewing it. Only dirty, leftist hippies could be that stupid.

Weren't you just telling us how safe it was and that was why, ultra right winger that you are, you didn't need a gun? Are you seriously positing that there is no one who knows the answer to these questions, like risk is magic? Taking on risk is a service that can be exchanged for currency. The amount of currency is set by the market. This is known as value. Ask Red how much his premiums were, that's how much the risk was worth. It's what the whole insurance industry is based on.

I know that - I'm a quant analyst for one of the world's largest investment banks. It's my job to price risk. I asked you, rather seriously, what's the market price of risk and how is it determined. Let's start off simply. What's your definition of risk? After you've tackled that one maybe you can tell me how much of which currency buys you (or covers you for) x amount of risk. Is it different for different currencies? Which market is the risk market? Where do I go to trade risk? NYMEX? COMEX? NYSE? Does the insurance industry trade risk on the open market to find their price? If so, which market do they trade on? What's the current price? What's a copula and what does it have to do with insurance?

Yeah, I realized after I sent the reply that I had typed pit bull. I think the article I read specifically mentioned the breed of the dogs, but that really isn't important. I had a pit bull for a pet growing up and they are great dogs. What is more common is people that get "guard" dogs keeping them alone outside and then deprive them of pack contact turning them into an animal that is more likely to bite.

Yep, I agree with ya. These two are very social creatures. Neither of which would do well alone. Plus, the way I look at it, the best guard dog is inside the house instead of outside.

                      This statement was never false.

Let's just go with the dictionary definition of risk: exposure to the chance of injury or loss. After you've tackled that one maybe you can tell me how much of which currency buys you (or covers you for) x amount of risk. I am exhausted from going to dictionary.com, but I will see if I have a little energy left over. I pay $130/month for car isurance. While I am not about to go through my policy for an argument on the internet, it covers a finite amount of risk, depending on circumstances. Why am I explaining this to you? Anyway, moving on...
