Since we often enough get complaints about the quality of articles on CP, I'd just like to say that, perusing the C# articles in the most recent posts this morning and latest best picks, all I can say is "wow". There's some impressive stuff, and what's amazing is the latest best picks has bumped off a lot of other impressive stuff in the last few weeks. Topic switch: What the heck is up with the History Channel? I can't believe the trash they've got on. Nostradamus? Monster Hunt? WTF? Oh, and if you're wondering why I'm even watching TV, well, I'm in a hotel in Ohio and was confirming my opinion about modern TV programming. I was not disappointed. Topic switch: So we went to Washington DC last week and walk all around the mall, visiting various monuments and so forth. We only had time to visit one museum and chose the Museum of the American Indian. I was incredibly disappointed. I found the use of space to be terrible, the interior architecture (all these curves) is confusing and unsettling, and the exhibits were lacking any depth. I was expecting something much better from the Smithsonian. Anyone else feel this way about the museum? I personally find the Pequot museum in CT much better. And there was something else I was going to contribute to everyone's Monday morning entertainment, but I forgot. ;P Marc

I have that prob in hotels, I get up at the crack of dawn. I do sleep well, but for some reason I just can't lie in. Not like at home, where I could sleep till lunch time everyday. Although when I was on holiday in Cuba back in March this came in useful, I could get up early, get a V Early breakfast, then wander along the beach, a beer or two in the 24 hr bar, then back over for 2nd breakfast(no, I am not a hobbit, just someone who likes his breakfast!). At home I never (well hardly ever - G&S fans aware) eat breakfast. I find I can sleep longer if I forego that meal! :)

Do you know that they rent the place out to corporations for parties at night? I went there for the 10th anniversary party for my wife's company, lots of alcohol were served, and it was fun (my opinion was affected by the alcohol though :) ). It cost a lot for the company (over $100 per person).

I used to love TLC and the Discovery Channel. Now I can't stand to watch them for exactly what you point out - where's the educational angle? It's all "how can we sex up our shows to improve ratings." Bah.

This is the one Smithsonian I've never been to, although I've been meaning to go (it would be a 25 minute metro ride.. seriously what's my holdup?!) At any rate I think the external curvy architecture is cool, it's disappointing to hear they didn't manage the interior space better though. My standing recommendation is that if you only have time to visit ONE museum in DC, I'd say either hit the Natural History Museum or the Spy Museum. The best two in DC in my humble opinion.
