Kaspersky Antivirus - experiences?

Any experiences with running Kaspersky Enterprise Space Security (woah!). I don't know much except it was recommended and "at least it's not Norton".

Satan himself could write an antivirus and people would still say "at least it's not Norton".
Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis. I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

My first real C# project | Linkify!|FoldWithUs! | sighistDon't know about the Enterprise Space Security - you would have to ask Jean-Luc Picard about that one. ;) But I am using Kaspersky Anti-Virus and it's fine so far. I picked that one because supposedly it's the best AV on the market. I was using avast! before, but when I started my own business I needed a commercial license and Kaspersky was leading all rankings.
Kind regards, Pawel Krakowiak

For a Business License, Norton is Crap, but Symantec AV Corporate Edition is great. but Avast is a Cool free Antivirus :)

My first real C# project | Linkify!|FoldWithUs! | sighistI put Kaspersky AV on my notebook and it is fine. It rates well in the comparisons, and switching from Norton freed up 100Mb of RAM.

What's the difference? Symantec owns/makes Norton. I would imagine they are the same AV engine and Norton just has the additional firewall stuff. We use Norton Internet Security and are looking to dump it for a better package because it is dog slow on startup, even with Live Update "turned off". I can't see the Symantec AV only engine being any better as most of what Live Update is about is getting the latest virus patterns.

Dunno, but trying to install symantec corporate over a norton home trial made a spectacular mess. A format/reinstall would've been faster than deleting zillions of keys shotgunned across the registry was.

My first real C# project | Linkify!|FoldWithUs! | sighistWith the version of Kaspersky we had at my last job I found that while it was decent in finding viruses it was responsible for extremely high use of memory and processor time whenever I was doing anything. This wasn't just perceived I actually mapped it out using performance monitor and every file operation and program launch Kaspersky would eat up over 50% of processor for 30 seconds to a minute. That may only have been because of the way our administrator set it up, and he would not let me change any settings in order to try and find a better balance.
