Firefox addon that hides ads

Does anyone know if there is such a thing. I've seen it but I think it was a feature of Opera. Can't remember. What bugs me is that when using CPHog the normal left pane with ads is moved to the right of the page and the "Message Boards" menu hides behind those flash ads.

Flashblock[^] blocks flash. All flash. 'Till you want it (configurable by site).

Apparently it doesn't work for flash, because when you right-click you get the flash menu so there's no AdBlock entry.

This is kind of the reverse of how I want thing to happen. I want to configure which to block, not which to allow. In case I don't find anything else I guess I'll use this.

Apparently it doesn't work for flash, because when you right-click you get the flash menu so there's no AdBlock entry.

You can also use the "ABP" icon next to the search bar to block elements, there's no need to use the context menu.

I definitely value the site since I spend a lot of time here. My need for blocking some ads on the site arises from a need of functionality and accessibility. I simply cannot access the forums because those ads hide the menu. In order be able to access them I need to refresh the page a number of times. But, to my knowledge the ads are regionally targeted, and my IP being from Romania, I get almost every time some flash ads that block the menu. So I bet this repeated refresh doesn't help the site a bit since it introduces redundant load on the servers. Also, I like to help people with their problems when I have the time, so this prevents me from providing help. To make it short, the ad blocking business is not a wish, it's a necessity. :)

So don't use CPhog, or talk to whoever makes it.

What the ad blocker does is wrap the ad in a span element and mark it as hidden through css. So the add gets counted as displayed, and CP gets the money per view (if that's how the contract is made). Now as far as clicking on ads, I think that's up to me to decide especially that the vertical ads displayed are the same as the horizontal ones in the header.
