I'm trying to find relevant information on the MSDN site to see what features the new version will offer for straight C++ and MFC projects; But with no success.

I was able to score a legitimate copy of Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition and a book on migrating to ASP.NET 2.0 all for free (even the shipping). I had to watch 3 webcasts, I just clicked them and closed them. I didn't even watch them. After about 3 weeks I received a box in the mail containing a real complete legit copy of VS2005. Maybe there will be promotions like that for VS2008.

Here's a full list: OK, now you know. ( actually, I have no idea, but it does seem to me like C++ support is fading )
Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "also I don't think "TranslateOneToTwoBillion OneHundredAndFortySevenMillion FourHundredAndEightyThreeThousand SixHundredAndFortySeven()" is a very good choice for a function name" - SpacixOne ( offering help to someone who really needed it ) ( spaces added for the benefit of people running at < 1280x1024 )

I guess they had no choice, seeing the party has been advertised for quite a while.

And PowerShell 2.0 CTP[^], which has great promise for getting close to the engine room in PowerShell. They carefully warn it's very early CTP, specifically to get users involved in it's life cycle.

Ever since I was about 13 or 14 I dreamed of having Visual Studio. I wanted it so bad but I couldn't afford it. When I was 15 I scored Visual C++ 6.0 and VB 6.0 but it wasn't complete. I also had (still have) every version of Visual Basic up to 5.0. I even have the VB 1.0 for DOS. After getting into .NET and C# a package arrived at my door with Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition complete with MSDN. I was very excited. It was a dream come true.

here's a VS08 C++ forum on MSDN. it's not an organized list, but you can kindof see what they've been working on from the questions people are posting. edit: here's a list
