What we were taught in High School was that everything is OK. What ever floats your boat. If you want to be gay, thats fine. Have sex with multiple partners, just use condoms! Kids will always do what they want was their logic. I think we need more conservatives in education.

To be honest, my philosophy is that school is a reflection on the world, so why shelter them ? Better to teach them what is right and also how to live in a world that is wrong than try to hide them from it. Christian I am completely intolerant of stupidity. Stupidity is, of course, anything that doesn't conform to my way of thinking. - Jamie Hale - 29/05/2002 Half the reason people switch away from VB is to find out what actually goes on.. and then like me they find out that they weren't quite as good as they thought - they've been nannied. - Alex, 13 June 2002

Spot the guy with no kids. I think you're right that a big problem today is bad or no parenting. But I do not believe there is ANYTHING I can do which will FORCE my child to live a certain way. All I can do is better arm her and hope that she uses that to help her make good choices. Then again, do you remember how hormonal you were at 15 ? Christian I am completely intolerant of stupidity. Stupidity is, of course, anything that doesn't conform to my way of thinking. - Jamie Hale - 29/05/2002 Half the reason people switch away from VB is to find out what actually goes on.. and then like me they find out that they weren't quite as good as they thought - they've been nannied. - Alex, 13 June 2002

I think most girls are pressured into it by rude guys who are just after one thing. Most girls could resist in the past because society taught them that their virignity was special. Nowadays, teachers are saying that it isn't special, and they should give in if they wear a condom.

That is the problem with families - no-one can tell you how to bring up your own kids, but you can always tell other's how to bring up theirs. ____________________ David Wulff "You don't go to the kitchen to take a piss - if you do, don't expect to be served." - peterchen on Bill SerGio. I won't let some miss-informed people ruin my kid's lives. I applaud this, but let me open a window into the other side of the tracks. My parents never showed me affection, but they had plenty of money. I went to a number of schools, and the private schools were where I was bullied the most and had easiest access to drugs and pr0n. Ultimately the idea that people with money are insulated from the spectrum of human behaviour is false. I am determined that Hannah learn to judge people according to who they are, not what their standing in society is. Obviously I don't want her to be playing with drug pushers, but they will be there, unless I homeschool her, and as I have said, I don't believe I do her any favours by hiding her from life. I would agree with this to a point. So I believe that some people of both sexes get an incorrect dosage of hormones in the womb and find themselves homosexual, but girls in particular are likely to experiment for more social than hormonal reasons. Yeah, there appears to be a phenomenon apparently of girls who go from being straight to lesbian to bisexual and straight again. A lot of people would like to hide this fact. Regardz Colin J Davies

From what I have heard from homosexual friends, and friends who know homosexuals, homosexuality is not a conscious choice. Rather, it is just the way they are. Someone wrote something once that went something like follows: "Why would I choose to be discriminated against, made fun of, and be regarded with disgust? Homosexuality was not a choice for me." Basically, my point is that you can tell them homosexuality is not normal, but if they are already homosexual, I don't think it will help them change.

What's the child supposed to think of Lucy's family when he sees that his *own* parents share a bed? Or vice-versa? Procreation is as vital a part of God's creation as anything else; it is your duty to ensure your children understand when and how it is appropriate. This whole "sex is a dirty, shameful thing, save it for the one you truly love" attitude is rather unhealthy IMHO. I hesitate to suggest this, but- if you *really* care about what your children learn and how they learn it, maybe you should consider teaching them yourself. What better way to see that they are brought up to understand what you believe? --------

We guys do not appreciate how much. FYI the critical time for her was in the early teen years. Make sure you are there when she needs to talk. One bit of advice; I take my daughter out to a quite restaurant that is "our place", my wife knows this and never asks to go there, it allows us to time to talk even when we get to busy. Good Idea! I do something similar (Park walk if it's nice) so we can chat. Natasha is too young to have 'those' sorts of chats, but I make sure we have some time together so we can talk about whatever she wants. Hopefully, when she's older the habit will stick and we can continue these chats. At the very least, she'll know that I'm available for her when she needs me. Spot the guy with no kids. I think you're right that a big problem today is bad or no parenting. But I do not believe there is ANYTHING I can do which will FORCE my child to live a certain way. All I can do is better arm her and hope that she uses that to help her make good choices.

I was about to completely agree, but then I thought pick a religion. Bao Nguyen wrote: Basically, my point is that you can tell them homosexuality is not normal, but if they are already homosexual, I don't think it will help them change. Why do a significant proportion of homosexuals get married? I guess because all the married homosexuals I read about who are 'outed' were born in an age less (sexuality bias) tollerant that then one we live in. Kenny Everett comes to mind who married for companionship - sadly missed. Alice thought that running very fast for a long time would get you to somewhere else. " A very slow kind of country!" said the queen. "Now, here , you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place".
