Did he? Where'd you read that? So far there are no details on the drugs involved in his death.

Let's face it, there's 95% chance that it's the case that he was abusing drugs, and they killed him.

I'm going for suicide... seems he was found with a bottle of pills, and police are describing it as "not suspicious" which is usually code for suicide... Reports are that they were sleeping pills...

Brokeback Mountain. Unfortunately most of his other work is frivolous tripe (Brothers Grimm etc.) Seems he was manufactured by the industry and only managed to do his own thing a few times in his short life.

I respect him for his role in Brokeback Mountain. Took a lot of guts to go from high school pinup to gay cowboy. The rest of his work that I know was poor though, manufactured industry crap. Otherwise I have no idea what he was like as a person outside his films.

BBM wasn't? Can't remember if i watched the whole thing or not, but i sure don't remember it being anything exceptional. Except for the damn soundtrack - talk about an ear-worm. I know, i know - it got a ton of press, but it was essentially the same old chick-flick "infidelity and mind-fuck is ok 'cause is true love" or some such.

That is sad. Not nice to hear of anyone taking their own life. I thought Brokeback Mountain was superb and he did an amazing job in it. The rest of his work is forgettable though.

Guess we will have to disagree about Brokeback Mountain. I thought it was a superb movie. Took on issues very few others films have and portrayed it in a powerful, stark manner. On another note I just watched Super Bad and laughed my arse off. Stupid but so honest. I cringed a few times thinking back to my teenage years.

Heh, ok. If you ever have the opportunity, watch some of the movies on the cable channel "Lifetime" - you'll see issues ranging from spousal abuse to, um, spousal abuse being portrayed in a powerful, stark manner. ;P

hehe. You seen Knocked Up and Forty Year Old Virgin? The guy behind these movies has a knack for being painfully honest. It isn't clever humour, it is just a big old mirror that makes you laugh in recognition. "Oh the humanity!" comes to mind. Though I must stress I never crashed, torched and then shot a police cruiser before... honest.

I enjoyed it. I was really worried there was no way they could sustain The Simpsons over a whole movie but it was true to form and was worth watching.

I have no pity at all for him. He made a conscious decision to abuse narcotics, and he died as a result. It's lucky for society that he did. Otherwise, we'd all be footing the bill for his many "recoveries".

That's a very naive and somewhat heartless attitude towards addiction.

The latter, not the former - i expected it to be a knock-off of 40yov, so skipped it. Worthwhile?

Same style but different topics and laughs. Good entertainment, especially if you watch it with your gf/wife as you'll pick his side and she'll pick her side and the movie will be different for both of you. (Just remember all of these movies are ultimately missable. They aren't great works of art. As entertainment they are good though.)
