Mac Book Air Reviews

Man, they're all saying its sleek and sexy but slow and has other issues like 3G USB modems that won't fit. To me its starting to sound like they're describing a digital bimbo, all looks but little when it comes to conversation. Apple wasn't like that. When did they change their strategy of building stuff that's got issues? Citations: Clickety[^] Clickety 2[^] Clickety 3[^]
"Every time Lotus Notes starts up, somewhere a puppy, a kitten, a lamb, and a baby seal are killed. Lotus Notes is a conspiracy by the forces of Satan to drive us over the brink into madness. The CRC-32 for each file in the installation includes the numbers 666." Gary Wheeler "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning." - Rick C

I think that first comment sums it up, the reviewer is just plain pedantic. A cable either way makes more sense. The 3nd article compares a laptop to desktops, I think it is self explanatory. And of course the super drive wont work on other machines. As rightly said, it probably requires more power than the USB spec requires. I am sadly disappointed, I was hoping for something a bit more insightful. :(

Not really. I've got several USB memory sticks that are pretty bulky. They actually haven't fit into this one Acer Laptop at the office. Though I agree that cables are the way to go, they're not the answer to everything. USB slots ought to have sufficient room, especially if there are other USB slots right next to it. For the super drive, well, frankly I'm vary big proponent of transportability. If I buy a Mac Air, I'd expect to be able to plug in the super drive into my other laptops and computers. That said, I'm setting aside the design issue of it not using a USB slot (I don't know if it does or it doesn't). If one slot is insufficient to power it, they could have used two slots. I've got several external hard disk drives that use two and they work like a charm. About the comparison between the laptop and the Air, they only compared it to one iMac, the others were Mac Book Pro or Mac Book. :)

Oh its a laptop that runs MAC OS, so what and its thin. The specs are great and its expensive compared to other laptops. No I don't want one I do really want a EEE PC mind you and you can buy 6 EEE's for one Air Book.

That look too thin to me. Seems like something that could get crushed easily. Do not think it will work well bent in half :)
