Google and CP

I saw someone mention this in the Suggestion forum, but I've been seeing this for a week now. If you google "codeproject" - the Codeproject website is not in the list of search results. Once in a while, one of the search results is a CP URL - but the Google description (which is usually the first few sentences on the page) is the Error message (probably means that when Google tried to spider it, CP threw an error). Also, if you do a search on an article's title, no CP results turn up. I mirrored a recent article I wrote on my website. Google nicely throws up my website URL for the article, but doesn't show the CP URL. My website gets less traffic than a Jewish cartoon site would in Saudi Arabia. So this is definitely very surprising. Is there something in the new CP URLs or some meta-data in the HTML that's locking Google out?

Maybe they had a robots.txt file during development and it was accidentally deployed to live ?

I've seen this too, only I have no idea what to do. Can someone force the google crawl engine to re-crawl CP?

That's a consequence of the CP upgrade disaster. CP articles 'disappeared' from Google due to the link changes. A site like CP lives from incoming traffic. Being invisible on Google is a severe but seemingly ignored problem for the whole CP site. CP is big enough to be noticed by Google when someone form CP approaches them with the problem. Merely, CP has to talk to Google.

It seems like something prevents Google from indexing the non-print views. Of course that causes the spider to miss most articles.

I'm not sure what world you live in... The issue has been around since October 10, well before the upgrade and has nothing to do with the link changes. All links redirect through correctly - it was a primary design requirement. What we're seeing is the time lag between Google index and results. Google is trying to all sorts of nefarious exploits and in the process slaps down legit sites like us and many others. We are yelling at google and they are not answering. Go to Yahoo[^] and life's sweet.
