How do people with little knowledge of English react to chat words such as LOL, BRB, BTW etc...? Do they have their own versions in their own langauges? I'd be mostly interested in an answer from people with limmited knowledge of the english language. 10x Drinking In The Sun Forgot Password?

Yep, I believe there are some kind of short form of those common words in every language. For example, on a Chinese forum, I will read 9494, which stands for "yes, I agree with you totally". This is because the pronouncation of "9494" is similar to the Chinese words for that meaning. Just like in English, you can use "b4" in short of "before". hmm, BTW, what does BRB means?

I know of one that my dad is fond of. I think it's of Gujerati origin, it's 420, or four-twenty. He uses it when he means someone is on the fiddle, or trying to do a double cross. I'm czech, so to note some in czech, these are for example z5 (fonetically in english as zpyet (uh, looks cool) - means "back" mj. (abbrevation for mimochodem, like btw.) atd. (abbrevation for "a tak dale", like etc.) se3 (abbrevation for setri, in english "Spare !" I eve saw a english abbrevation dictonary somewhere ROTFL
