Renaming a project file renames it physically.

But that's what I asked - how can I rename an existing item in a project so that its name gets change in the file system.

Just right-click on the file and select rename or single-click on the file and rename or press F2.

I am sorry for not providing complete information. I am using Visual Studio.NET 2003 IDE. It doesnt have any means of renaming files from project explorer so I was asking if there is any workaround for that. I'd accept your answers for 2005, 2008 IDE(I'd be a noob not to notice the "rename" feature there :-> )

Hi, I have VC++(MFC application)Solution and Project. I want to rename the solution and project so that it will rename all application class name, comments, assembly name, root etc. I had renamed manually. As I have changed all project, resource, solution file names and class name by using Find and replace manually. Please help me regarding same if you know any better solution or Steps should i follow to rename everything from Visual studio without physically renaming. Thanks a lot.
