Then we ship all our political prisoners up there and build a single super computer to run everything. . .Of course they will learn that the moon is a harsh mistress.

NASA plans on smashing two probes into the moon south polar region in hopes of revealing hidden ice [^] hopefully they won't hit the weakest point and crack the moon in half

or shatter it so that it rains debris down on us and turns us into two races, one above ground the other below.... ;P

They think all these missions out so I don't think there would be a problem. They have been wrong before... NASA is probably the coolest government agency ever created though. Space travel is amazing! I can't wait until they get it safe to take commercial craft up for a visit.

we'll have to wait until they start storing the barrels of radioactive waste on the far side of the moon...which will then alternately heat up and freeze as the Moon rotates around the Earth.
Steve
Didn't that cause a problem about nine years ago[^]?

Just amazed at how the US government works. New Orleans is still in ruins, millions of Americans don't have access to affordable health care but the US government borrows money to fund NASA. oh, have they found the WMDs?

Did you never watch the old "Space 1999: super-marionation series? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072564/[^] Plot: On September 13, 1999, magnetic energy builds to cause an explosive chain-reaction of the atomic waste from Earth stored on the Moon's far side, blasting the Moon out of Earth orbit and out of the Solar System. The inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha (a scientific research colony) are unable to return to Earth and must survive on their wandering Moon as it is displaced further into unknown space by freak space warps. It starred Paris, Cinnamon, and Lt. Philip Gerard :-D
