What kind? Single? Double? Skeet? I haven't done any in years. My maternal uncles are really into it and I'm thinking of taking it up.

I'm primarily a sporting shot but shoot almost everything else. Shot sporting, skeet and all-round for the county. Sporting, FITASC, and Compak for Wales. 90% of my shooting is sporting and shoot skeet, skeet doubles and flushes the most.

Oh I think crickets are quite interesting, but they look a lot like cockroaches. It's also easy to confuse a cricket with a grasshopper. I believe, like cockroaches, crickets prefer dark shady areas as their eyes are more attuned to darkness. There's a fan club for crickets? Cool, I would never have guessed, though nowadays, you can find anything on the web, right? I wonder if they include some spicy cricket recipes? But I sort of put cricket fans into the category of the oddball fan club. I mean, the things aren't really that interesting, right? Unless your a bug lover, a kid, or a scientist. Marc

Good stuff, skeet is incredible fun. I'd love to get into it, but for 2 things. Time and the initial cost of buying a decent shotgun.

That's where we differ, I get bored with it, very easily  I do shoot it a bit but more for fun. For example on Sunday when I returned home to shoot in the last league shoot (sporting) of the season, we went over to a skeet club to while away the rest of the day. First round to "warm-up" I shot with suitable (i.e. Skeet chokes) into the gun. Second round I had much more fun when I tightened the chokes to 5/8ths and 3/4s and everything was then a puff of dust. No, my one discipline has to be sporting and it's derivatives such as SporTrap (American version), FITASC and flushes (more life-like).

I wouldn't bother getting a reasonably expensive one to start. I know lots of people who've got "cheap and cheerful" guns and shoot better than people with £8000 Krieghoffs. My personal gun is an [Miroku MK38 Trap (32")](http://www.browningint.com/miroku/products/04m/firearm.php?productsarea=miroku&sommaire=Over and under&classe=mk38&famille=MK38+TRAP+12+GAUGE&reference=813003442)[[^](http://www.browningint.com/miroku/products/04m/firearm.php?productsarea=miroku&sommaire=Over and under&classe=mk38&famille=MK38+TRAP+12+GAUGE&reference=813003442 "New Window")], Grade 3, cost me £1550 and I don't think I'll change it ever. It has been teagued, i.e. had adjustable chokes put in by the guy I bought it off, my cartridge supplier. Got a good deal on it because it's worth more like £1800 but I got him a contract with my university to supply cartridges so he gave me the deal. My previous ones to this (still got both but will be selling one) were a £200 Lanber which Dad now uses for hunting squirrels and a £1150 Browning Ultra XS. Go the route of the neighbouring farm's son who just started and is doing very well. He just bought a £700 Miroku MK70 Sporter and that's a nice little gun and not too expensive. The problem at the moment is the price of cartridges.

5 for the excellent reference . I love the picture of the "Two-Handed Nordic Nose Grab and Dip." I sat here and stared at it for a minute laughing my head off, then I look at the bottom and saw the baby polar bear dangling from the guy "competing," and that sent my laughter to a whole new level. Skill has nothing to do with the quality of the shotgun. Though you have people like two of my uncles (the other 4 are almost as avid a set of hunters turned clay shooters) who are simply fanatics. One of them owns a custom built Perazzi shotgun that cost him $14,000 USD at the time, and that was almost 12 years ago. He's got 3 walls in his house simply littered with trophies of all sorts, and all over the house he's got murals of many animals. He lived in Africe (Cote D'Ivoire) for more than 20 years and according to him, that was the best past time there was. I looked up Miroku and they've got a dealer locally. I think I'll check them out and see what I can get that can be labeled a deal. Do you think I could buy a shot gun from the US or Europe and ship it here? Hmmm.. damn it, I've got too much to do and so little time to do it in!

A bit like the chap who mentored me when I started, he's got a £4000 Perazzi at the moment, has spent more on them in the past. The most expensive one I've seen although it was the only one of it's kind ever made was a single barrelled 16 bore Grade A made by Purdey for a friend up in Scotland. Conservative estimates put that gun at over £300,000. However it didn't cost that originally when it was made 180 years ago.

I don't know what the laws are like in Jordan. Here in the UK we can get guns imported fairly easily. An example of this came up when I was at the World Championships. One of our shooters was interested in a Krieghoff and in the states it was the same price in dollars as in pound sterling so he was asking about getting it in America and apparently what you can do is "buy" the gun in the UK but what actually happens is the money goes dircetly to the States to pay for the gun and then that store ships it to the dealer in the UK and they are then responsible for the importing. Sometimes you're charged for the delivery and/or a handling fee but apparently quite often they'll do it for free. Perhaps there's something similar in Jordan. BTW, I might be biased by I like the Mirokus, and they're reliable. A friend sold one and met up with the guy he'd sold it to 20 years later. The only thing gone wrong with it was that the firing pins had to be replaced, not because they broke or anything they'd riveted up from firing so many cartridges and couldn't reach the cap anymore.

I'm pretty sure there is and I'm also sure that there will be a "reasonable" mark up on it. After that it ought to be a matter of weeks until they get here. I'm going to look into it really soon, just as soon as I have a few hours to myself.

Sometimes you're charged for the delivery and/or a handling fee but apparently quite often they'll do it for free. Perhaps there's something similar in Jordan.

I'm pretty sure there is and I'm also sure that there will be a "reasonable" mark up on it. After that it ought to be a matter of weeks until they get here. I'm going to look into it really soon, just as soon as I have a few hours to myself.

Marc

I clearly told I don't have anything against cricket or cricket posts. I was just trying to find out if there's someone else who is just like me, who just won't care about cricket. I have likes and dislikes and I have the right to discuss about it, just like how you think it's cool to discuss about cricket or anything else. You must respect individual opinions. I'd have expected something more sensible from you. I am guessing that you had to reply because of your excessive love for that game. Hope that makes clear sense.
