In no particular order, some of my favorite authors: Peter F Hamilton (Sci Fi) Simon R Green (Fantasy adventure) Harry Turtledove (alternate history) David Gemmel (Heroic fantasy) Alan Dean Foster (Sci fi, fantasy, other) William Forstchen (Sci fi - american cival war meets alien monsters) I generally read a heck of a lot of books. :omg: Roger Allen Sonork 100.10016 If I had a quote, it would be a very good one.

Opps - i totally forgot about the Dune series ( thats very bad as i have all the books, the film 4 times (dvd and vhs, both covers) and all the PC games dating back to the Dune RPG. Julian May's books (well the rampart world series) are murder/mystry in a sci-fi enviroment, very good books. I've tried reading some Phillip K. Dick books before but could never get into them. After all the suggestions i think its time to take a trip to waterstones to get some new books.

You need three people to anchor the plane (in the same way that you need two points to define a line). At the end of each novel, one of the characters departs and the plane rotates until a new character is caught. He has had interesting places (eg Fractal Mode where the world is constructed of fractals), worlds with intelligent Horses and even a world where it's still the Cambrian period of Earth's development. For sci-fi: Douglas Adams (one of my favorite authors with Stefano Benni and Daniel Pennac). Also William Gibson and Philip K. Dick ("Do androids dream of electric sheep?" is even better than the movie IMHO). I like also Douglas Coupland (not sci-fi but many of his novels are related to technology) I don't like much fantasy. I agree on the ending of "The Nights Dawn" though it didn't scare me away. As Roger suggests, try the Greg Mandell books, they are quite good. I can also recommend "Fallen Dragon", but be prepared to go through some hundred rather boring start pages. I actually did put the book away for months, but then I got sick and didn't have any other reading and it appeared that the action started just a few pages from where I initially stopped!.
