Bug Tracker Project Manager All in One Wonder Package no coding required

we are a team of two, possibly three depending on the day and coffee levels. here's the scoop! one guy keeps track of his lists and priorities etc in excel spreadsheet. the other, uses an IT system for her stuff but is just too robust and cumbersome. personally, im using my notebook from Mix to keep track of my projects this spring, and this new technology known as a "pen" is there an easy to use web app, that allows us to keep a project list...however, is not so robust and huge and meant for more then three people that it's not more work to use it? any thots? :^)

I know of an excellent one but I won't tell you for three reasons: 1) Your Google comment 2) I know this has been asked dozens of times here (not for the least of which because I've responded so many times to the same question) so a quick search of the lounge would reveal all but if you aren't even willing to Google about it then.... 3) There is still no CodeProject FAQ / WIKI that I've been asking for some time, (it's always "coming soon" despite being in my opinion an invaluable resource and bringing even more value to this site) and I'm just getting tired of posting over and over.

I have tried this search technique however, I yield an incredibly low quantity of results using "Project Manager" (15 results?) "Bug Tracker"(a single result about go daddy) and "To Do List" comes up with nothing.

In any bug tracking system you want to ensure you have backups, redundancy, and a migration path for future technology. 1. Which version of the notebook are you using? Have you ensured it's compatible with other notebooks or notepads and how have you found tech support? 2. Have you backed up the notebook? Try either simple replication with a compatible notebook and pen or, if you have the cash, an automated industrial backup solution such as a photocopier. 3. I've read that Pen failure rates are quite worrying. Do you have spare pens, have you checked their compatibility with current notebooks and any notebooks you may be considering upgrading too? 4. When buying pens make sure you understand the difference between Pens and Pencils. A Pencil is similar a Pen but allows rewriting on the media. Read/Write speed is similar but a Pen will ensure minimal data loss 5. When using new pens make sure you have some sort of staging setup to ensure that everything goes smoothly. A common mistake is to start with, say, a blue pen and then, on migrating to a new pen, find you may using green or purple. This can be a nightmare on a production system so just be warned.

yes, it is desktop based...but the application allows the data file to be on the network...I'm not sure about simultaneous updates though - I do know it has been used in a (small) team enviornment.

If you are using Windows 2003, I will recommend installing Windows Sharepoint Services 3 SP1 (which is free). It has project management, issue tracking, tasks, wiki built into it.

I've recently stumbled across www.assembla.com[^] it has Subversion, Trac(Set tasks, milestones etc), and a whole bunch of other stuff, and best of all its free package is pretty damn good.

few solutions come to mind: - trac[^] - nice, but can be complicated to set it up. - redmine[^] - similar to trac, but implemented in RoR. Big plus is that there is a [almost] one click setup package here[^], which does everything for you. Like trac, it also has SVN integration. I use it and i am quite happy with it. Actually, i prefer Trac, but couldn't get it to work, so i chose Redmine. - use a shared spreadsheet on GoogleDocs
