What do you use, apart from the VS IDE, to edit your C# programs with? I'm currently using notepad, what others do you recommend and why?

Other than VS .Net, I use UltraEdit. It has indentation and coloured syntax.

I've been an EditPlus fan for a while now, it's shareware and does lots of nice programmer things like syntax highliting. Check it out here..... www.editplus.com

Robert Edward Caldecott wrote: UltraEdit ROCKS. I have been using for many years now. In the true essence of Code Project we hijack a thread that started life on VS.NET and change it to UltraEdit. Anyway I have been using UltraEdit since 1999 when I registered it and have had no problems with it until now. I have posted the problem on the UltraEdit Discussion Board and emailed Ian directly but no answer to my dilema. Just in case you have seen this before or have an idea on what I can try I thought I would ask you. Hope you don't mind. I currently have 9.10 but this problem started with 9.00. I have also reinstalled the machine from scratch so it is not an upgrade problem. When I install UltraEdit all is fine with the Open File Tabs in docked mode (which I like). I then add all the extra stuff in to the UEDIT.INI file via Configuration and it is still working fine. Then I run UEC2REG to migrate all my settings to the registry as I have always done. At this point the Open File Tabs takes up the whole of the client area of UltraEdit. The files I open are loaded as you see the statistics on the status bar but you can't see the contents themselves. If I undock the Open File Tabs toolbar I can see the file contents but this isn't what I want. When I redock it the problem is still there. I have no idea how to fix this and I really don't want to go back to using the INI file. Do you have any idea on what I could try? I use Boxer for Windows. You can customize the syntax highlighting for any language you wish. Plus there are lots of nice extra features built in such as a calculator and ASCII chart. I've been using their editors since the early DOS days. Brigg Thorp Software Engineer Timex Corporation
