Any gotchas when upgrading from VS2005 to VS2008 for a .NET 2.0 C# based web application? Or should I wait for VS2008 SP1?

I have VS2005 and VS2008 running side-by-side on this machine with no issues.

Same as Paul, 2005 && 2008running side by side, no issues. I have upgraded one project (WinForms) from framework 2.0 to 3.5, no glitches at all. VS 2008 works like a charm by the way :)

Only gotcha is you got to buy something new that works pretty much the same as 2005.

I'm running both with no problems side by side. The upgrade from 2005 to 2008 has been pretty good also. I can't say there were any problems. If you can, go to one of the "Heroes Happen Here" (really lame name). I went today and have an upgrade. No problems before that, though, using Express 2008.

They give those in launch events? Ah, I still have time for going to the tomorrow Technet here! *runs greedily to subscribe for the event*

So did you replace VS2005 with VS2008?

Stacks of issues on x64 with VS2008. Even Ctrl+F can bring it down. There's also quite a huge bug list on the connect site. Backlog that keeps growing. Avoid its XAML editor too. It's just bareable but it really depends on the box (I've seen 32 bit machines that run smooth, but some of them still have issues with 2005 let alone vs2008).

Yes, Reporting services. Your reporting services project in VS2005 will not port to VS2008 untill sql 2008 is available. I had to break one my solutions up where the reporting services stuff works under vs2005 and the rest is vs2008

No, they're both installed here side by side on my notebook. I'll shake 2008 out before kicking 2005. When I get back home I'll probably install 2008 on one of my servers and see how that works with some of the older projects. I do like that they can both co-exist without a problem (so far). I'm sure I'll be using 2005 so I don't want to scrap it totally.

The express edition is free and does most things, not sure what you can do better in the professional edition.

I just finished that event yesterday and it was interesting. Unfortunately, you only get the standard VS2008 version. Also unfortunately, they give you a free copy of Vista. :sigh:

Please don't bother me... I'm hacking right now. Don't look at me like that - doesn't anybody remember what "hacking" really means? :sigh:
