At least you can get it anywhere in the world - "This is approximately 20 US Dollars and we deliver worldwide."

Do people still get taken in by this[^] kind of thing? Any message will have decayed to background levels before it gets to Alpha Centauri so it's a complete waste of time and money and many other things.

From the FAQ: "Will SentForever be making contact with me in the future? Only if you’ve ticked the box to receive one or two notifications a year when your message reaches an interesting milestone in its travels." However, a warmongering alien race bent on destruction of carbon based lifeforms has now been alerted to our existence, thanks to Wayne and Chardonnay pledging their undying chav love for each other. Blark of the Thargosians imminent arrival may not be the notification they were quite expecting.

I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

I would be better off sending a message via an old ham radio buddy of mine with a directional dipole antenna.

Tomorrow will be better than today, even better than yesterday

Yes — if you mean idiots. Idiots are born faster than every other race.

So the creationist says: Everything must have a designer. God designed everything. I say: Why is God the only exception? Why not make the "designs" (like man) exceptions and make God a creation of man?

Just a thought... What would you think the last message would be? "Earth Says Sorry" "So Long and thanks for all the Fish" "Did I leave the Gas on?" :)

The dedicated deep space dish makes it sound like a scam (well, amongst other claims). They probably have a HughesNet DirectPC dish! What a waste of money. Clever, though, and I'm sure others will be intrigued enough to send them money.

The dish is only a few miles from my house, it's part of what used to be our end of the transatlantic satellite comms link. My Dad used to work in communications and was involved with receiving the first transmissions from Telstar.
