Actually India assisted Bangladesh in gaining her independence from Pakistan in 1971. I recommend you do your homework before expressing your opinions. /ravi

And I suggest that you read what I wrote. Nothing, got that, nothing, in my post implies, suggests, or states that India didn't try its best to hamstring Pakistan by helping Bangladesh break away. That does not mean that there are Indians who don't believe that Bangladesh should be part of India. Do you want to claim that I am wrong???

Not to give an excuse to this, but you'd be shocked to know how many people think that they're coming to Brazil when they go to Buenos Aires. Also, most people think that Brazil's capital is Rio de Janeiro (it's Brasília, btw). Geographic education in school is terrible in most countries. I was born in 1971 (so, just after the Liberation war), and I remember clearly learning that Bangladesh is in India in school. Schools are slow in changing the information they pass to their kids. After this, we often don't learn anything new. So, don't be shocked if in ten or twenty years people still make the same mistake. BTW, Brasília became Brazil's capital in 1960 (almost 10 years before), and the entire, huge city was built in 3 years, in an astonishing work of architecture and engineering.  How many people know that?

I see dead pixels Yes, even I am blogging now!

I do. My uncle was one of the chief architects and he used to send me souvenirs every month or two.
