Just had a quick look at Adobe's latest "me too!" application+service, www.acrobat.com[^]. Underwhelming. It has a facility to write documents and share them, the facility to convert 5 (wow!) documents to PDF free of charge and some kind of desktop sharing whatsit that didn't work for me. On the "big whoop" scale, this scores a perfect 10.

I need to check it out in an Internet Cafe. The desktop proxy seems to restrict access to the site as citing it as personal storage.

Ditto "They can keep their software". there are other options out there that are not bloated and almost or entirely free. I like foxedit myself. PDFCreator is great to convert html to pdf.

It is a web-app, there is no software to "keep."

It won't even let me login to check it out. Says I must verify my email address but the email never arrives. I've had an adobe.com account for years now, it doesn't need to verify that email address.

Having no desire to try this I'm going to rely on you for aformentioned vitriol.

I said that I don't need it by saying that they can keep it. I know it should be hard for you to understand.

I agree. I've very rarely had any problems with foxit and for the size of it, it does a great job. :)

Zoho Writer and Google Docs ('Save As PDF') does a better friendly work too. :)

I use the pdfSuite995.It creates a smaller PDF that any of the others, even Adobe. It creates, splits and mergers. Who could ask for anything more

I don't know who you are Rajesh but do calm down. You took my post far too seriously. It is just software, take it easy man.

Well, very few people here know each other. Neither do I know who you are, but the problem is that I respect you and that made me take your post too seriously. What made you think that I am spewing around vitriol here? You know that I wouldn't try anything before commenting on it? You can tell?

I spent 10 minutes painfully typing out a response on an iPhone last night only to have ASP.NET respond that the viewstate didn't match or some such fun. Because the iPhone doesn't do copy and paste, I lost what I had typed. Doh. Acrobat.com isn't deserving of vitriol, it isn't bad, it just isn't that interesting. regards, Paul "Vitriol" Watson

Have you seen that error before? I've seen that error in our logs maybe once every few days but have never been able to replicate except if we update code between page requests.

No, never seen it before. It was a plain text error message too, it didn't include the usual Code Project template. I did take 20 minutes or so to compose the message so the viewstate may have expired :)
