Let's say, there is a big storm that knocks out power in your office and you can't work at all. Will your boss give you a day off?

We have a "corporate event" in a lecture hall. Talk about what you are doing, listen to what others are doing.

Our policy is to start the generator and keep working.

just do design work, planning, etc. We had power out for a week once, that is the only time things got stretched to the limit.... eventually you run out of things you can do effectively on paper.

I work from home, when there is a power outage my Honda EU2000I, powers my servers and workstation. When at infrequent times I am at employers office location and no power, I go home.

We have about 50 windows in our office. They probably will force me to wash them. And of course you could just write down your C++ code on the paper or napkin and enter it in computer in the next day. If you are a good artist, you could also make your forms design on the same napkin/back side for the code, front side for the form design, different napkin for header files or partial classes – depends of the language you’re using/.

We don't have bicycles. Oh, wait, we do have rats and roaches and god knows what underneath the floor (it's a 50 year old building).

The worst I ever experienced was that they would have us sit around and wait. But, it really wasn't too bad as you could still use pen and paper and outline/pseudo-code whatever you were working on. These days, I work out of my house. So, if the power goes out so do I. My house will be solar powered by this August so it will be interesting to see how I handle power outages after that.

I work from home, but in the past our policy was, people with notebooks keep working, people with desktops stay to laugh at them.

We have a departmental UPS, and a diesel generator, the minute the power is knocked, the UPS kicks in and within 1 second the generator is started. We also have our on substation!
