which world are you living in!! iPod, iPhone, MacBook Air. I am no Apple fan, but com'on you have to accept that there were no similar items available in market before they started it, just look at the iPod probably world's most selling Music and Video Player! And iPhone is good as well, I mean just look at the things you can do with it! I didn't see YouTube, VISUAL VOICEMAIL, Google Maps and probably many more APPLICATIONS (which may come soon from 3rd party developers) on any other phone, DID YOU? I don't want to argue on MAC and Other but for me personally Apple has improved a lot in recent years. Specially after iPod...

Are you kidding me? If you want a useful ultra-portable laptop look at Sony VAIO TZ[^], not "Air" - hint: check for the battery life.

I've had all these things on my phones for the last 4 years. And there's already 3rd party applications - these phones can also emulate the sega megadrive, NES, SNES, GameBoy, some other stuff as well as play Doom, Duke Nukem, and Quake and no doubt other stuff as well. Guess my stuff wins - and they're probably cheaper.

Hi guys, I just saw an video of Apple's WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) and my goodness what a phone this is going to be?! GPS, Microsoft Exchange, Cisco Security, 3G connectivity and most of all $199 FOR 8GB iPhone all you want in one phone. And the good thing is that its coming out on 11 July everywhere in world (unlike those early US release:mad:)! As a developer I can't get to wait to buy this, and just ordered (my 1st) new iMAC 3.06GHz as well today. Even the iPhone SKD (uses objectiveC I think:~) looks mind blowing compare to Visual Studio! The COCOA framework, built in SQLite and multi-touch screen experience, so much into so small device. So exited to start on new Apple generation. Anyone else think the same??! This is the LINK [^] if you wanna see the Video. It's 1:44:00 long.

Think that new $199 iPhone is going to save you money over the older $399 model? Guess again.

In a classic bait-and-switch, AT&T is raising its minimum monthly service subscription for the new iPhone from $60 to $70 per month, according to the Associated Press.

From here[^]. Still impressed? And you forgot to mention the fact scam that you have to mail the piece of junk back to Apple (with $$$, of course) just to change the battery. Nothing remotely impressive about any of it.

Yes, iPhone SDK is very interesting. I have been learning Cocoa and Objective C in my free time since the SDK came.

This has been discussed, again and again and again and always we (the denizens of the CP lounge) have come to the conclusion that their method of rating is pure, untouched, unadulterated, genuine, verifiable, refined trash. MIM on TIOBE

No similar items to the iPod? You not ever heard of MP3 players? No similar items to the iPhone? It's a mobile phone for f*?& sake! MacBook air? Isn't that a mobile laptop? Sure they're good looking, and sometimes have features that differentiate them (like only being able to play music that Apple want you to play), but seriously, you're falling for the hype if you think they're innovotive. Oh, and Google Maps on your phone? see http://www.google.com/mobile/gmm/index.html[^] And doesn't any Windoze based phone have office apps?

nobody has made them quite as appealing to the mass market as apple. you cannot ignore that. they dont claim to have invented the wheel, but they sure as hell do their best to perfect its ease of use. before you ask - im a PC user ;P

The iPhone is just the tip of what is comming for mobile computing devices. The next five years is gonna make the last ten seem as if we where standing still as far as technology goes.

Oh didn't you know… if you put the letter i in front of the object name it becomes new fascinating technology. And when Apple creates an advertisement it sets new standards in the industry that no one could possibly duplicate. These mac people are easily fooled into believing that these products are superior to similar products, they learn in time that they were duped. There is nothing more funny than watching my friends face after his mac crashes, and then reminding him… how on earth did that happen… macs never crash and didn't you pay extra. And those iphones they are so uncomfortable to use.. non Feng Shui Hey lets make people hold this cold flat rectangular piece of glass up to their face so that each time they use it (in its primary role as a phone), they will be forced to wipe the skin oil (and or makeup) off, before continuing. Then the durability issue, if you drop it.. it's pretty much over from what I've seen. If the screen doesn't physically break, something internal becomes broke and the damn thing doesn't work properly. There is one constant for Apple lovers … Someday the rest of the world will see the vast virtues in Apple equipment and we will all switch over. And the evil Microsoft will fall. :sigh: God they are pathetic.

And isn't that the point? Apple take a product and market it fantastically well. What other phone/mp3 player or consumer device in general gets into the newspapers or on the TV news? Whether they do it by creating better devices, or by better marketing (or a combination) is open to debate and personal preference, but what they categorically do not do is create unique products. Apple and Virgin seem to have the same 'consumer fuzziness' - I just wish you could bottle it! I'm not a Mac user because I need to develop for the platforms my clients use. I'm not an iPod user, because I'm not stupid enough to by an iPod for twice (or more) the price of a similar Mp3 device that does the same thing. I'm not an iPhone user because I HATE w*nkerphones in general - a pox on their users! I am a Virgin credit card holder - because it's free, and they gave me $10 after I hadn't used it for 6 months! (I have now used it once - for a purchase of $9.95)
