I've written a WPF stock tracker based on tracking the price of Oil, yesterday is was a around the $140 a barrel market this morning it's around the $144 a barrel mark :omg:. I tracking the data from here Bloomberg[^](I'm assuming bloomberg have got it right). Jeez at this rate it will be actually cheaper to buy a rapeseed oil from the supermarket.

In france, a lot of people are doing that already. Gas is heavily taxed, and people with Diesel engine cars (50% of cars running in France) are really tempted to save 30%. They sometimes get caught and risk having their car seized because policemen following those car can smell their exhaust gas. It smell like chips especially when going upill.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's illegal in the UK. You can buy conversion kits I believe.

I could be wrong but I think you would not find oil in the supermarket any more (at least cheaper than gas) if it was fully legal to run on non taxed fuel. It's just a guess, knowing that gas is more or less the same price as it is in France.

Train tickets - You go to the counter, ask for a train ticket, pay for and purchase a train ticket, turn around, listen to the announcer to find out your train time, and suddenly it's now a bus ticket. (Is this the same everywhere or is it just the UK?)

Yeah, that does make sense. like I said, I could easily be wrong. I'm just sure I read about it a few weeks ago.

I hear in some places the trains arrive a few minutes early, and leave on time. No really, I've actually seen it. Our trains do suck though :sigh:

I track a few bits using Yahoo. This page has details of how to extract what you want for free and the data available is very extensive. Also delayed but good enough: I have a feed page at my site [^]as an example. Downloading Yahoo data[^]

It's illegal because HMRC don't get their slice. The firms that have tried to set up legal operations gave up because the rules and rates were changed on them so often. For god's sake we have trouble getting rid of the used oil!!
