    Hello, I work for Syncfusion and would like to get some opinions about print advertisement. If you have a moment, I'd like to hear your thoughts. When you are reading a trade journal, like MSDN Magazine, Dr. Dobbs, or ASP.NET PRO, what do you like to see in an advertisment? a) Large screenshots b) A few screenshots c) No screenshots, rather a short list of features/benefits Which ads do you remember most? Which ads would make you want to learn more and visit the advertiser's site? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Regards, Marissa

    d) a good balance between a,b and c. There is no real good answer to that; serious advertisers spend a good amount of money in behavioral psychology to try to understand how ones brain react to different stimuli. In this age of internet media, the print advertisement should focus on the "tease" aspect of publicity and try to get the sucker, erm, potential client to go the the web site and see more. It's the same thing with web advertisement, if a banner is not good looking, or does not tease "me" enough, I will not click on it.

      I used your products a couple jobs ago, and I've seen your ads on various websites. Here's my 10 cents: I think the best advertisement is one very nice-looking picture (related to the product, but not necessarily a screenshot) and then a short list of features that people really want. Your previous ads were very dull-looking and never stood out. Get a talented artist to make a high-quality picture for the ads; high quality art gives the feeling that you're a high quality company.

              Ads that are quick and concise. In magazines like Dr. Dobb's, I'm to busy looking at the article and don't like ads that distract me from the article. Small to non-existent ads are nice :-D

For me, it's pretty simple--a stellar reputation built over time through the manufacturer's own blood, sweat and tears will sell me on a product. You wanna sell me something, you'll have to earn it. There's no cutting corners through glitzy ads to reach me. Needless to say, I'm as anti-marketing as they come. My philosophy is pretty simple: leave me the f**k alone, if I need your product, I'll look you up. The other way around is just you trying to convince me I even have a need for your product to begin with, and that effort will be lost on me. [Yes, the constant barrage of non-stop advertising in all forms of media assaulting my sense has finally gotten to me. These days, when it comes to advertising, I'm downright hostile.                       I vividly remember that ad! Not only did one look at the ad, one stared at the ad, and removed one's glasses to get a better look at the ad. THAT's what I like in printed advertising. Something that grabs my attention. Screen-shots - boring. List of features - boring. Write an article, put your link at the bottom. If the article is interesting, I go to the link for more. BTW - My next printer was 2400 DPI! :-O
