I assume some or most places have a causal day typically friday, here its every friday, but we have the normal business casual dress code the rest of the time. Personally i find my normal clothes just as comfortable as the stuff i'd wear on a causal day but thats not the point. Here causal means, nice t shirt(nothing offensive) or other kind of shirt, nice jeans(no large noticable holes or stains) they dont have to be new just not all torn up. Recently a lot of people have been wearing shorts..jean, cargo, kahki(sp?) and sandals, not normal sandals those cheap foam and plastic "flip flop" types you see on the beach or around a pool. some people thought it was inappropiate and said no "flip flops" or shorts on casual day(which i think makes sense as it is an office and we randomly(not often but we never know when) have customers and vendors coming through. and people started complaining that its not casual day if they have to think about what to wear. i was just wondering what you all thought. i personally dont care about casual day, if i'm working in the cieling, under desks(all day), or down at the colo i wear jeans and a t shirt, any other time i wear normal polo shirt and slacks, and nice polished boots(ankle problems) am i(and others) wierd in thinking that you should still look somewhat presentable on causal day?

Jeans, Trainers and a casual shirt EVERY day. I am a very un-uptight accountant. As I pointed out to my boss, I am paid for my brains, not my dress sense. I sit in an office on my own, yelling instructions to a couple of staff members and don't need to be all corporated up!

I wore chainmail once. Over a white t-shirt and jeans. Don't recall any complaints.

At my previous company, even the upper management wore Hawaiian shirts and shorts on Fridays. Here we're more formal. Although they are considering my request for Camel-Toe Fridays. It's slightly more reserved than Casual Sex Fridays[^].

i like that idea..although we'll have to wait for a few people to go on a trip or vacation at the same time to avoid any psychological damage. i still have nightmares from some things i saw in college.

The problem with casual dress is that a couple of morons with no common sense always ruin it for everyone else. Some moron comes to work with a t-shirt with the F word on it or some chick wears pants with a thong sticking out. That being said, it really depends on the culture of a company. Business Casual basically means no tie. Casual Friday for most companies just means you can wear jeans. I did work for a cool non corporate company that let you dress casually and wear shorts all summer. But it was bought by a very corporate company and almost everyone from the old company quit. It isn't what you wear, it is how you present yourself in total. I think shorts and a t-shirt with flip flops is fine as long as you are clothes are neat and clean.

I didn't get any requirements for the signature

Those who complain should be reminded that the easiest course for management is to simply eliminate "casual day", so people wouldn't have to think about what the boundaries were. In other words: it's a privilege, stupid, don't abuse it or we'll lose it.

thats what i think but the the person in question (low rank, but thinks he is partner level) doesnt believe they're replaceable, and we (everyone) exist to make his life and job easier. and he doesnt hink far enough ahead..i'd cancel it since i dont really care about it, but i can tmake that decision. since his boss does everyting this guy tells him i guess he asssumes that goes for everyone else too. always remember "Just because the job is important doesnt mean you are".

Where I used to work you could wear "sandals" any day of the week. I have given rants here before that if you have mangled toes, I don't care if you got a pedicure--no one wants to see that crap. There were several guys who wore flip-flops with khakis. I think flip-flops is the equivalent of no shoes at all and should be banned in public places. We could not wear shorts, but girls could wear capris. Last year Bermuda shorts, which are just long shorts that go to the knee, became popular. Some women were calling them capris. We also had a problem of some women wearing too small a bra and the back fat rolls showing, or wearing the cotton casuals and seeing major granny panty lines. Where my hubby works, he has to pay a fee that goes to charity to wear jeans on Friday, but the shirts they wear on Friday have to have the company logo. I've seen the Friday jeans thing/give money to charity thing more and more which I don't agree with because I feel that I should be able to choose the charity I want to donate to. If I show I gave $5 to the Humane Society rather than the United Way, I feel that I should still receive the same benefit of wearing jeans.

When I worked at Gateway they used to wear shorts but apparently there was some abuse and they revoked the shorts. We had one guy in our group who kept threatening to show up in a kilt.

I work for small company. you can count us with two hands. There is no official dress code. As long as it is decent, wear whatever you want. ;) Sometimes you see people in torn jeans and faded T-shirts. :| There are couple important people who dress up on occasions when meeting with customers or visiting customers

I agree with your last statement. You can wear a fancy blouse, but if it's too small, or your too small bra is making back fat rolls show, it's unprofessional period.

I assume some or most places have a causal day typically friday, here its every friday, but we have the normal business casual dress code the rest of the time. Personally i find my normal clothes just as comfortable as the stuff i'd wear on a causal day but thats not the point. I think business dress codes are arbitrary and retarded.

I think if there are any rules it's not casual day any more.
