My VS 2008 crashes every day. It is actually not a big deal because it has the decency to do so in the middle of the night (I leave my system on). I have learned to save everything often. All in all though I do like the product and I really like Linq.

Well.. what can you say? Microsoft software isn't renowned for it's stability or reliability is it? But you're right, VS on the whole is a pretty good app :) Regards, --Perspx

Ok, I'm not so bright sometimes, but why would you leave a program like VS08 open and unattended all night?

Simple. I know that it will shut itself down. (I work for myself and no one else is here)

Why would you shut a program like VS08 down just because it's dark? :-\ Actually, i'll often leave instances open for days at a time if i'm working on something. Removes the need to start it back up again the next day... and gives me a chance to experience all those wonderful resource leaks.

What third-party code do you use that runs in the VS process? My copy of VS2005 was crashing a lot last week. It turned out to be the Vault client plug-in struggling as the upgraded Windows Search engine was indexing my source files!

How about reinstalling it? Funny, I've been using it everyday since March and not one crash :suss: Are you sure it's VS2008 or could be something else?

I can't really think of anything that could take all night to compile. Even in college, we were to compile Linux kernels in our Operating Systems course, and with slow machines that didn't take all that long.

I can't really think of anything that could take all night to compile. Even in college, we were to compile Linux kernels in our Operating Systems course, and with slow machines that didn't take all that long.

My point was more about the fact that VS is slow to compile :) and no neither can I ;P Regards, --Perspx

What third-party code do you use that runs in the VS process? My copy of VS2005 was crashing a lot last week. It turned out to be the Vault client plug-in struggling as the upgraded Windows Search engine was indexing my source files!

I haven't added any third party plug ins.
