Just on the day I really need to fix an urgent bug. So what should I do? Stay at home, or go into work early, fix the bug, come home, and hope no one catches the flu from me? [update] I am not 100% sure about the bug, so I might have to wait till my manager comes in to clarify ... [update]

Unless the flu is so bad. I'd go fix the bug then just rest the next day. Can't really rest at home if there's those kind of problems bugging me, so might as well get it done as early as possible. :)

That would be the nicer thing to do. Any possibility your manager will let you telecommute to fix this bug?

Go to work, fix the bug, and breathe heavily on anyone in the area. You won't actually accomplish anything useful feeling as rotten as you do, but later, when you feel better, the rest of the office will be out sick, and you'll have no interruptions while you fix the problems for real.

If you're not 100% sure you have flu, you don't have flu. If you can even consider getting out of bed to go to work, you don't have flu. As to whether you should go to work with a bad cold, probably not - you'll only pass it on.

In your condition, you might introduce more bugs than you fix, so stay home, get well, and don't spread it. :)

That's what I was thinking. So I am staying in bed. Chances are I will just be frustrated and become even more useless.

No, unfortunately. 1. No VPN to work 2. Dev PC at work has everything set up to test (DB's VM's etc), cant really move it.

Can't you fix the bug from home, sparing you the drive, allowing you to lie down a while if you feel really, etc?
