This is exactly what's wrong with F1. What a right fucking con job. Hamilton deserved the win, and to have it whisked away in this way shows that F1 is corrupt to the top, even beyond the kinky antics of a son of a Nazi. An utter disgrace - Schumacher wouldn't have been called up about such a move, he'd even have been praised!

I think he could have backed up a tad more, but I don't think he really violated the rules, especially since going into the runoff was due to racing, not something he did to deliberately gain advantage. At most it was a few second advantage being able to get right on Kimi's tail and with the damp track and the near collisions with traffic, I don't think the finish was affected.) Unfortunately, F1 has become too bureaucratic and rules bound. It's only a matter of time before they're all driving really lame, essentially spec cars (like IndyCar or NASCAR.) I'd love to see more variation in engines and fuels. Incidentally, the arrogance of F1 in demanding super elaborate facilities, and the drivers in being chicken-shits about runoff is also ruining the sport--they can't go to wonderful places like Laguna Seca or Mid-Ohio. Heck, having a race at the Cleveland airport would be amazing (the Champ Car races there were almost always exciting.)

One of the more disturbing things about F1 is that FIA management so obviously hates McClaren and favors Ferrari (I'm a huge Kimi fan, but we have to be honest here.)

It's a shame that they don't televise things like 4x4 trials. We were invited to watch one of them[^] and in having walked down the lane to see the competition we saw more action in 100 yards than an entire season of F1. We asked the marshals where we could watch from and they replied "anywhere, just be warned if you're on the course, they won't stop :-D". Basically the idea is that you have to drive between sets of flags (one colour for the left hand side and one for the right), most people aren't allowed to stop. However if you are driving a vehicle over 100" in the chassis (e.g. the 110 Defenders, some Rangies or Discos) then you're allowed one "shunt" were you can reverse and take another go at a tight corner. If you make it through the first gate you have x points (where x is the number of gates in the course), if you make it through the final one (very few, if any do) then you have 0 points. The aim is to have the lowest total for all stages. Of course you can have different classes to even things up a bit, ranging from Class 1 which is heavily modified (e.g. there was a Suzuki Jimmy with dumper truck tyres on it, independent rear and front brakes, V8 under the bonnet, shorter in all respects (height, width and length) to the original vehicle) to Class something-or-other which was a standard off-the-factory-floor vehicle. Some people turned up in the vehicles they were driving home, providing more entertainment.

(Not you, Steve, just wanted this to appear after the last thread) What's the matter, you spineless goon? Too afraid that you'll be shot down in flames if you try and argue against any of us? You are a cretin of the first order, a twat your mother wishes to disown. I've met pieces of shit with more wherewithal than you, you miserable piece of distended rectum.

It does appear that way. What is disturbing is the technical stupidity of the stewards, who appear to be saying that Lewis had more momentum as a result of cutting the corner.. We know Hamilton cut the chicane because of Kimi's move pushing him over. On the straight he allowed Kimi to re-overtake him. Therefore, Kimi's velocity was greater than Lewis's velocity on the straight. Since F1 cars have very tight weight limits and we are nearly at the end of the race, we can assume the two cars have nearly identical masses. Momentum is mass times velocity. If Kimi's velocity is higher and mass is the same Kimi must have more momentum. Hamilton overtook him because Kimi was being more cautious due to the conditions. The stewards are therefore: a) ignorant b) biased c) both a and b Given the non-penalty last race for Massa's incident in the pitlane (not Massa's fault I believe) one finds it hard to believe that the FIA isn't biased to Ferrari. Time to dump the FIA and make F1 an independent sport (we also get rid of Max Mosely too)

Hamilton admitted he let Kimi by just enough (what he thought was enough), then used the slipstream (draft) to get past him. All we had was the cameras to watch. Perhaps the stewards had a better view, or some technicality in the rulebook. Can Mclaren appeal or is it final?

Hamilton would have had the slipstream anyway if he had just followed Kimi round the corner. It's all a pointless argument since Kimi crashed on the same lap due to his own actions. Hamilton did not get a higher position in the results due to his action. McLaren can appeal and is doing so, but I doubt this will be overturned. The stewards are now clearly biased toward to Ferrari. If Massa wins this championship as a result of this decision I'm turning off F1 again like I did for 2002-2006 when Schumacher and then Alonso won so much it was boring.

Schumacher winning wasn't the problem (despite my dislike for him, I have to admit he was an excellent driver) it was the same problem as here--the rules apparently only applied to non-Ferrari teams. Even more annoying is that Schumacher didn't need to be favored!
