So how well can you see colours?

IronScheme - 1.0 alpha 4a out now (29 May 2008)Based on your information, below is how your score compares to those of others with similar demographic information. * Your score: 4 * Gender: Male * Age range: 16-19 (18) * Best score for your gender and age range: 0 * Highest score for your gender and age range: 1520 I had a LOT of trouble with the third bar and blue hues (though leaning more towards cyan/turquoise.) Unfortunate that they don't provide an average score for each particular age range - it would be interesting to see.

I think my monitor is fine, it's my eyes that need recalibrating :)
I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

Yeah I had that too :S Another forum I go to has a whole heap of users who refuse to use 6-bit monitors over their expensive 8-bit monitors because they claim the colour reproduction on 6-bit monitors is hopeless compared to an 8-bit. It would be interesting to see just how much a difference a better monitor would make :P In fact I think I'll go and spread the word of this test right now! Oh and btw I am currently winning :]

IronScheme - 1.0 alpha 4a out now (29 May 2008)37. Unfortunately, test results are probably skewed based upon your monitor, video adapter, and any color management provided by your video driver. I'm still using a pair of 21" CRT's here at work, and neither one is in particularly great shape. I'll have to try this again tonight at home, where I've got a much nicer LCD.

Wow - can't believe the other scores here. I am partially sighted, (seriously) but scored a perfect 0!!! ...and stop blaiming your monitors. OK, mine is good, but due to my eye problems I have both the brightness and contrast turned right down to minimum settings. It is a test of relative colours, os unless your monitor is really screwy it shuoldn't matter that much how well calibrated or true to "real life" it is...

Most emphatically not true. Talk to a human factors engineer about color perception some time. Also talk to anyone who works in high-end video production or desktop publishing. A given combination of monitor, video adapter, and video driver settings produces a color response curve. Many of the standard HTML color encodings either can not be distinguished or are displayed incorrectly depending upon these considerations.

I suspect that, on a CRT you will have much better 'luck'.

IronScheme - 1.0 alpha 4a out now (29 May 2008)Doubtful. LCD's surpassed CRT's in color range a long time ago.
