It's the little things: death by a thousand cuts, like the changed shortcut to move one folder up in Explorer, renamed Add/remove programs in Control Panel, etc. I also hate the way it informs me that I will have to confirm actions like restricted folder move operations, and *then* pops up UAC. :wtf: You're going to show the bleeding UAC dialog, how about just showing it? Why make me click through two dialogs? :mad: If you like Vista, fine, whatever floats your boat. You chose not to install it; what are you moaning about? It's not like the Vista haters took away your Vista DVD and prevented you from installing it.

That 1 "feature" annoys me enough that I wouldn't install Vista on any machine where I have the choice.

Well, Vikram, I listen to everyone in an attempt to save time and avoid pitfalls, just like a professional should. I did choose not to install it because I gave too much credence to people who made statements like the following:

You know Vikram, I was going to sit back and wait until CG shows up, now there's the man to talk to about Vista, he hates it tons more than I do and that is saying something, but its starting to look like I should relinquish the second position to you... Either that or you're really pissed off at something and you're just taking it out on poor old Vista :D

Hey, I'm with you. What's fundamentally wrong with Vista are items that can be thrown onto one of two piles. 1. Its incredbile how annoying the little things are and if M$ had put in just that teeny-weeny extra little effort they would have resolved all of that and made a happy camper out of everyone including CG :) 2. Its such a resource hog with the fundamental changes being more ascetic as opposed to functional. So why would they make it with such hyperbloat? IMO, that's bad, bad, baaaaad [cue in the sheep] design. Just my $0.02

They didn't change it for the sake of change. I work in a building that requires you to use an ID card not only to get in, but to get out as well - it's annoying, but the building is that much more secure, as it should be (I work in a processing center for a huge number of mutual funds). Perhaps I was harsh - perhaps I should blame myself for listening. However, I was trying to save time by listening to people with experience using the platform. UAC is not a "genuine" issue, as it does not create hazards, in fact it prevents them. It's just an annoyance. Every platform has its annoyances (I refused to install XP for some time because of the registration requirement, which hundreds of users claimed required a phone call to Microsoft - by the time I did install it, registration was a simple blip of Internet activity). I may yet find other issues that are genuine (to me, at least) and if I do you and our fellow CP Lounge Lizards will certainly hear about it :)

*wince* You need bigger cases. My planned case( Thermaltake MozartTX) for my new build has space for 10x120mm, and if you really want a single 80mm fa. Probably because if you have a PSU with a bottom (WRT a normal ATX layout) intake fan that compartment won't have any outflow.

In mine everyone has to badge in/out but they don't require doors to shut between. Motion detectors will set off an alarm if anyone tries pulling a runner. The current setup isn't quite fully installed, but we've been told trying to run the doors will trigger them locking. While that doesn't make sense on it's own based on other recent changes it appears the goal is to make the area just inside the security doors into a mantrap. Writing policies that put security above egress in an emergency, or getting EMS/Fire people inside will bring the wrath of OSHA, etc down on everyone involved; so even if there is a nontrivial delay in normal conditions it can't be enforced for emergency egress.
