    It's blatantly deliberate. They can't sing, they are just desperate to appear slightly dirty to appeal to that particular male demographic.

      There are many examples of songs where dodgy sound recording provides some interesting differents. A famous one relates to Bob Dylan singing about a new friendship he's made: "The ants are my friends". The reality is that he's singing "The answer my friends" (from Blowing in the Wind).

                            Reminds me of Wierd Al's version of "Dirty Deeds", everytime I hear the original song I keep thinking: "Dirty deeds, done to sheep...dirty deeds and they're done to sheep!" Despite my best efforts to hear the original lyrics.
