So, once again, one of my tabs is stuck, so I can't access any of the pages. I've run a new IE7 in order to report this news.

Time Machine is doing my initial backup to my 1 TB Time Capsule, and then I believe I have all my Windows software installed and ready to unplug the PC and move the Mac into the prime position. The PC will go in the games room, and I'll have to grab things from it for a while, I bet. But, for now, I am still using the PC while I set up the Mac.

I thought I was bad at breaking stuff. :rolleyes: Sorry mate, but IE7 has been pretty kind to me. Plus, it's been long enough that I'm thinking Vista can't be that bad so may give it another crack. IOW, I'll jump on your bandwagon in a coupla weeks ;)

I thought I was bad at breaking stuff. :rolleyes: Sorry mate, but IE7 has been pretty kind to me. Plus, it's been long enough that I'm thinking Vista can't be that bad so may give it another crack. IOW, I'll jump on your bandwagon in a coupla weeks ;)

Well, I notice the Chrome blurb refers to what I'm talking about. If you have several pages open and one locks for some reason, the whole browser locks, you can't access other pages while that one is busy. I just finished setting up XP SP2 on my Mac Pro, I will set up Vista on there too, but I still doubt I'll use it much. I used W2000 for ever after XP came out, I just have no reason to change.

Bah, IE7 ain't that bad. In some ways, it's as nice as IE6.

I got fed up with IE7's huge memory consumption, so I tried out Opera, and found that I like it. The open-source evangelists put me off the idea of trying Firefox.

Firefox is famous for doing that on slow connections. I wish they would test software against crappy connections...

Time machine is something like system restore in Windows (but it writes the backup data to an external drive).

I usually go with Mozila firefox only. rarely i will use IE7.

I do hat the lockup when a script blows or something like that. It seems silly to happen into today's world. Still happens in IE8, but it is still beta so I will wait and see. Not sure if it happens under IE7 (not installed except in a Vistual Server), but IE8 does launch each tab into a new process. Perhaps they are planning the Google Chrome feature (only one I liked of the browser) to drag tabs out into new windows. Anyway, if IE7 runs the tabs in different processes, you might try killing the one that is locked and see if they rest come back to life.
