So, I am finally back in the real world. My XP SP3 issue - the PC rebooted over and over, I chose 'last known good' config' every now and again, and finally, one time, it worked. I uninstalled SP3, and now it seems to be working fine. My Mac is now my main PC. I have three monitors and the 1900x1200 had a weird artefact on the bottom left for a bit, and my 1600x1200 plain would not work. It was using a DVI cable (is that right ?), the others were using VGA and an adapter. The Mac cards only take DVI. So, I bought another VGA cable, and used another adapter, and it works fine. It runs Windows really fast, unlike my Macbook Pro. Of course, I have 8 cores and 10 gig of RAM..... I did go back to the Mac store, the blue tooth mouse I got was DOA, the buttons worked but moving did not. b/c it came with a computer, they have to order a new one, not just give me one, but they gave me a wired mouse to use in the meantime, they were really helpful. They also found I had $651 on my account, they had overcharged me. I paid a deposit but it was $500, so I have no idea how that number came to be, but they refunded it. So, now I have everything set up so I can go between PC and Mac. My main reason was not some revolt against Microsoft, but that I have to write a Mac version of our software, and I had the money to buy a good PC, it made sense on every level to buy a Mac that also out PCs my old PC. I am used to the Mac now, it has it's quirks, as does windows, but they both work just fine. Of course, I'll get lots of 1 votes for saying I am using a Mac, that's fine. I dreamed last night that I stumbled across Mac forums on CP full of unanswered questions and so immediately set about answering as many as I could.

You're right. These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets.

*grin* I don't recall the specifics, but I'd imagine there'd be a Cocoa forum, an Objective C forum, one for Quartz, and one for the iPhone SDK, at least.

Your cyclic XP SP3 reboot could come from this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953356/en-us Especially if your machine come from a retail install and now a clean install by yourself.
