OK, so, I have two wireless modems. I was paying $220 a month for 3 Gb. When I opened the second account, I found out the price had dropped to $115, they didn't tell me, until I found out, then they dropped the price. I have a $600 bill because of 1.5 gig of excess usage last month ( see my 'I despise Microsoft' thread ). So, I check - they now charge $89 for 5 Gb and $120 for 10 Gb with no excess. So, not only were they ripping me off on an old plan, but they well and truly ripped me off on the excess. An hour on the phone and I ended up talking to someone who could confirm the amount owing, but could not take money. Was a disaster. I owe them $1300 ( because they ripped me off on excess charges, their site didn't show me usage for over a week, and they left me on an overpriced, redundant plan ), and they wouldn't take it from me.

I tried it. The guy agreed that Telstra sucks, but didn't lodge a formal complaint. He said he sent me a form I can use to contest my excess usage, but it never came, so.....

No, I have to use wireless. But, even when I used to do a lot of downloading, 10 GB a month was the most I ever did.

There's been a couple of occasions where I've been affectively shafted by a large company - the call centre monkeys don't have the knowledge or authority to help (which you find out pretty quickly!) so in the past I've written directly the the Chairman's (CEO?) office - they usually have a complaints dept that have much more control over what can and can't happen. Write them a nicely worded letter and include as many facts / dates as possible. If you're persistent but take it straight to the top, you've got a much better chance of getting something done in your favour (IMHO, YMMV!) HTH

                It definitely isn't definatley

Of course. I love the new Metallica. I had a great time seeing Judas Priest live. But, people seem to like the rants more.

The first time they screwed me utterly, I spent 6 months on a quest that ended in middle management. I ended up on the phone to a guy who was only willing to assure me that my experiences were not typical of all Telstra customers.

Just a thought, but have you ever considered orbiting your own comsat? It would probably pay for itself in reduced network costs inside a year or two.

Screw middle management - most of the time they're just people who used to be the monkeys on the phone who've managed to work their way up a bit (and that's usually some form of nepotism rather than by actual quality). Go straight to the highest person in the company - address the letter to them directly.
