Was playing a game with my son where we were counting stuff backwards. After telling him give me one item, I said give me nothing for what comes next. He said no. Zero comes before one and nothing comes before that. He's only four, so I doubt he truly understands what nothing is. But I found it interesting that he's able to differentiate between zero and nothing, if he did. Why did man take so long to invent zero? :)

I'm 28 and I doubt that I understand what nothing is.

kids understand 'nothing' nothing is what is left when your brother/sister takes your favorite things away. That isn't zero, zero is when you never had it in the first place. nothing is much worse than zero, so it comes before zero. :-D clear? :-D

That's because we usually hear it after asking our significant others: What's wrong? Her: Nothing. Us: Okay. Wanna fool around? Her: <Enter your own experience here.>

Yes, but it has to be 0-padded to two spaces.
