What do you enjoy in programming?

Just out of curiosity, how many constitutes a 'flock' ? Would you like to meet my teddy bear ?
Considering we live in a 2-bit world, it's at most three at a time. ;) Jeremy Falcon Imputek "C# is the answer to a question nobody asked." - Chris Losinger

Being able to create something that is my own. Being able to write a piece of decent software and actually say "I wrote this". I also enjoy learning about the language that I'm using and improving my skills.

Really? In this modern world of credit cards and loans, I thought everyone had it figured out. I for one am an expert on spending money that I'm going to earn later. With y'all on the reasons to enjoy programming though.

That last thread has gotten quite long winded, but it got me thinking about what I enjoy about programming. Here is the last post I made : http://www.codeproject.com/lounge.asp?msg=264653#xx264653xx[^] What do the rest of you think about it? What aspects of programming do you enjoy? Ryan Johnston

I'm a total control freak and computers are a little easier to control than people. I don't code professionally for a living...it's just something I got into at a young age really enjoyed cuz a computer (currently) only does what it's told to do. I often think up cool ideas that really interest me....plan it out, write it, fix bugs, optimize it...try and make it more robust and OOD friendly and portable. When i feel the object is taking advantage of everything it can as efficiently as possible I save it to that special part of my hard drive and encrypt it just cuz I can... :) Then later when working on some cool project idea I pull that cool code out and just plug it in... I dunno why, but I get a crazy rush outta that. :) Cheers "An expert is someone who has made all the mistakes in his or her field" - Niels Bohr

No, but when I complete it, I'll have the perfect mate. I can have all the sexual fun of a sheep, plus have my dinner made for me each day. What Welsh man can ask for more? :)

I hate to say it, but I'm actually starting to dislike programming. Sometimes I wish I was doing something else. Like carpenting or something. Sitting behind the monitor all day long does not appeal to me anymore. Preferred storyline: - I am your father. Search your feelings and you'll know it's the truth. Together we can rule this galaxy like father and son. - Ok dad. Let's kick some butt!

I enjoy programming since it allows me to be creative. When I am programming without being allowed to be creative, my enjoyment drops considerably (not rock bottom however). James Drinking In The Sun Forgot Password?
