No, and wasn't it the RMS Olympic? Sister to the Titanic.

Firstly, it would be RMS not HMS. Secondly see Here[^] Olympic, Titanic and Gigantic were the sister ships originally, Britannic being the renamed Gigantic. (RMS = Royal Mail Ship)

HMS Brittanic never existed, as it is spelt incorrectly.

Typo. It should read HMS Britannic. HMS = His/Her Majesty's Ship SS = Steam Ship I also found HMHS which stands for His/Her Majesty's Hospital Ship.

"Pinch outside ship record exists to point to ancient fire" (9) Quite hard, but it is a Thursday, so good luck.

I really want to solve one of these one day, but normally I either miss them completely or someone guessed already, and NOW I'm out of time so I'll just post what I got: Pinch outside - cold - poles - polar ship record - log - map - navigation exists - is to point to - direct ancient fire - (from previous) polar-is - Polaris -.. direction? I'm not confident that this is correct, at all, but there it is. ;P

RMS! Not HMS! It was the RMS Titanic, it was not owned by the Royal Navy or the State, therefore is not HMS. MV is another common Prefix, Motor Vessel.

So, in the english wikipedia it is called RMS, in german one HMS. I don't mind. But we both agree the answer was wrong. :^)

Whenever a crossword clue uses point, it's pretty much guaranteed that the point refers to a compass point. So, TON is TO North.
