Do you use the cue rest in a game of pool (aka the spastic stick)?

True though a better display of manliness may be to take the rest and place it under the chin of the first guy who bugs you about it look them in the eye intently and say "Are you hassling me?". :) Remember it is *never* wrong to do anything that you feel like that doesn't hurt anyone else.

Ahh.. you didn't say it was competitive that's entirely different, in that case all's fair and they are perfectly within their rights and it really is up to you to not care and more importantly come up with far more annoying things to say to them when it's their shot. :)

I use it only when there's no way to take the shot comfortably otherwise. I try to avoid such situations not because it's uncool or something (it isn't), but because I have much better control when i rest the cue of the back of my hand.

If, after draping your entire body over the table and you can no longer even get a single toe in contact with the floor in order to make a shot, then yes, the cue rest is allowable. Otherwise no. Under no circumstances is the cue rest acceptable on a half size table. The mere appearance of the cue rest in proximity of the table results in instant man-point reductions to all who are present.

Possibly, but I used to play competition level snooker in my younger more foolish days. I consider pool a game to accompany a few beer, snooker is a game best played sober and in full control of your wits. I once beat Eddie Charlton in an exhibition match (at the Manly Leagues club), he was pissed at the time but it is my one claim to snooker fame and I really do treasure it. While giving Josh a hard time about using a rest is a bit of fun, not using it to play/win the game is plain stupid.
