I was thinking that Chuck Norris was claiming the file, so Windows 7 cannot touch it... :-\

What's new about this? I get exactly the same message (well, minus the "Send feedback" link) in Vista. "Your File Is In Use… Demystified"[^]

Quite a while ago I said that Windows 7 is what they wanted Vista to be but ran out of time.

It would be a real boon to Microsoft's PR if they offered free (or significantly discounted) upgrades from Vista to Windows 7.

When is W7 due to be released? (and when will it actually be released?)

I don't think MS have actually announced a release date. The rumour-mill, however, predicts Sept-Oct. Ready for the 'Holiday Season'

There are a lot of features I like about Windows 7. I have had it for a week and first installed it on a VM and was mildly titillated, enough to where I installed it as my main OS and am absolutely sold. I bypassed Vista anticipating Windows 7 release and am not sorry. It seems they listened and learned! A hots off to the people at uSoft Mike

I downloaded the Beta and did a full install. Had XP Pro and it wiped out the XP MBR but I believe if I wanted to I could recover. You can get the Beta Here[^] The license is good until Aug. 1 of this year so I'm hoping if the real deal is not ready by then they will extend the Beta period for us that have adopted it. Mike

I used to have crappy service and this would have taken me forever to download so I feel the pain. I can burn you a copy if you like? If your interested I'll give you my email and we can do it. 2.3 GB Mike

I think Windows 7 is to give them a 3-5 year breathing space to get Midori out. Can't wait myself.

The feature would be a thousand times as useful if it also had a "close file handle forcefully" button.

In other words, it's reliant on applications telling Windows what files they have open. Probably the only change here is that all the in-box applications have been modified to do this.
