No research is ever pointless as long as it's done by accepted scientific methods and published somewhere for everyone to benefit. There is a prevailing feeling out there these days that research has to be FOR some purpose or DO something but the great majority of the really beneficial things we take for granted didn't come from trying to make that thing, they came from pure research that led to discoveries that led to more that ultimately resulted in the thing we've come to know and enjoy and can't live without.

Whoa, Mama! I'm all for blue-sky research, but this travesty is particularly pointless, because its measurements are based on what, exactly? "Cuteness" is a matter of opinion, and therefore cannot be quantified in any way that is useful empirically. All there is to learn from this "research" is that the "scientists" involved are idiots, because all they proved (if anything) is that some women agree with their idea of cuteness more than some men do. They're a stain on Scotland's proud scientific heritage.

By pepper, do you mean black pepper/peppercorns[^]? Or Capsicums[^]? Or Chillies[^]? I can't eat enough of any of them [drool] I eat a lot of the first variety with Pongal for breakfast. The second is one of my favourite vegetables, although the capsicums we get in India are anything but hot. The last I use extensively in cooking and salads. I have a bottle of pickled green chillies in the fridge, and DAMMIT MUSTAFA, THANKS TO YOU I AM NOW TEMPTED TO RAID THE FRIDGE AT 12:15 AM! :-D And I have a memory leak waiting for me at work tomorrow :((

          Cheers, Vıkram.

Surely it is correlated to hand size?

Sure on the face of it, it's completely ridiculous, but who knows, some day someone might be doing a paper on proper scientific technique and cite it as an example of something bad or someone might be doing research on dolphins or something and it might give them some ideas. You just never know and I bet it was really cheap to do this study anyway.
